    Start Over, New Lenovo Setup

Trashed the 'old' Dell, new Lenovo came.

Edge or Chrome browser? Did Chrome from IE, don't think I tried edge. Wasn't using chrome very long. Adding bkmks often didn't work or went somewhere else, help menu limited. I read Edge does not allow dsktp shtcts, uses taskbar icons......and I can only click it once, for example, cannot put up a couple of google search tabs.

Speed or fancy extra functions not an issue, need ease of use basic stuff, shortcuts to websites, adding bkmks.

Trying to look up stuff myself within forums. Looks like search box only does a 'google' internet search? And cant do keyword search in the tutorial index, takes forever to find title of what Im looking for. Am I missing something, clicking in the wrong place?

One comment before you do much else. Please, please, back it up. Full system image. To an external drive of some sort. And do not keep the external drive hooked up. Save the virgin state of a brand new machine before getting into changing things.

Macrium is recommended, but not super important right now. The backup is.

If interested, not pushing, but if interested...

    ok, downloaded the free edition.

I have a 16gb Verbatim brand usb stick, but I'm not 100% sure it's empty. Will the back just go over anything on there......or must it be checked and "erased/wiped" empty first?

Its great you are setting up Macrium now.

Would you please start a new thread for your questions about setting up Macrium ?
It will keep this separate from your original topic here and not get anything confused.

Edge launches additional tabs from the "+" at the upper left. Not from the taskbar. You can launch additional windows from the taskbar, using a right click.

You can choose the search engine. It normally defaults to Bing, but maybe Lenovo received some consideration from Google to set it to them.

I may not understand your questions. Your post seems to be written in a different version of English than the one I know. I sorta like vowels, for example.

@ImLost - back on this thread for a moment.....

    from your first post
"Trashed the 'old' Dell, new Lenovo came."

When you got the new Lenovo, did you need to go thru any initial setup? What is referred to as OOBE (Out of box experience).

Where you set up user id and MS account if you want and all that first time stuff. I don't see in any of your threads if you did or not. Curious, cause if it came with Windows 10 version 1709 (likely), it should have urged you to upgrade to version 1803, the Spring Update.

Probably was in the Quick Start Guide that usually comes with all machines.

    Thanks.

I'm a Firefox Quantum man myself.

There's an add on I can't live without. It has the clunky name of DARK BACKGROUND, LIGHT TEXT. The result is in the pictures below. (It regrettably slows down the loading of a page and does so in a bumpy manner... but to me the eyestrain reduction is totally worth it.) You can pick whatever background color you want, by the by.

If by adding shortcuts to websites you mean via the taskbar, regrettably, Firefox STILL doesn't offer this functionality. Edge and Chrome do, but in different ways. My taskbar is LOADED with such shortcuts. Chrome allows each shortcut to act and appear more like an app.
