    Change Power Settings based on Open Programs


    Hey gusy,

    I have windows 10 and am wondering if i can change power settings. Such as if i have my NAS software open, not to go to sleep. Or if i hvae google chrome open not to go to sleep, however if these are not open to go to sleep after 1 hour.

    Yes you can.


    Right Click on Desktop, select Display Settings. . . on the left side menu, click Power & Sleep. Change those to NEVER. .

    Thanks for the info. I know i can set it to never, or 4 hours or something long. However I would like the option for it to sleep after 1 hour, unless I have Google Chrome Open. Or some other software I want?

    A number of suggestions, including 3rd-party apps or using powercfg options, in this thread on the sister-site SevenForums.

    Not that I've tried any of them. My solution for a laptop is to set the power options to sleep/hibernate after a set time when on battery, but set to Never when on mains power. Then I just plug in the power cord when I want to leave the machine running indefinitely.

    You could see if DShutdown by DIMIO (free portable program) can help you. Although I think it can only monitor one program before shutdown ( the shutdown/standby/hibernate can then be delayed for the time which you have to select in the dropdown box but the maximum delay is only 30mins ).
