Trying to drag a shortcut to a batch file onto my start menu

I wanted to drag a shortcut to a batch file onto the tiled area of my start menu but I'm just getting a no-go/banned symbol. How do I overcome this? Thanks.

Option One in this Tutorial should help you out:

Thanks but unfortunately that still doesn't help. As you can see in this new screenshot, Windows doesn't allow me to drag from the recently added items list to the tiled area. It seems like it only allows shortcuts to .exe files but I want to put a shortcut to a batch file here.

Place the shortcut in your C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder, restart Explorer then Pin it to Start...

Thanks very much. Right clicking and chosing "pin to start" was what I needed to do but I do think that the interface is inconsistent and therefore unintuitive since you can just drag executable shortcuts to the tiled area whereas for this I have to use the context menu?

W10, in it's current state, is, unfortunately, fraught with inconsistencies and unintuitiveness; bugs that should be ironed out by the turn of the century!

Touche, guys! Great observations. And I hope I don't live long enough to see either timeline come to fruition.
Thanks for the laugh, @jimbo45 and @Edwin.
