This is the Macrium backup of users aaaaaaaaa in progress.
The detination drive is the E: drive or 4 TB drive.
A new folder was not created for the Macrium menu and it is moving to a default new folder?
    There are many errors reading.
Should Microsoft Office be reinstalled and then another image created?
Will this prevent the errors or make it easier once the image is restored?
Or will the result be the same if Microsoft Office is reinstalled after the backup folder image is restored?

Using the BIOS disk sanitizer should provide a deeper clean of the drive than clean install.
HP seems to only believe in hardware HD failure and not logical drive failure.
The folder restore is an image and not a clone so any chkdsk corrections problems/fixes should be fixed by the the disk sanitizing and not reversed by the restore of an image?

There were different methods in this link:
How to make GPT volume bootable - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

In post # 134 there are minitool partition images.
The .chk appear to be in a different folder than the EFI folder.
They are in disk 2 partition 2 but not part of the EFI partition?
    So they will remain?
Should they be deleted manually then?
Or do the commands format the whole partition?
When the boot sector is recreated how does it get integrated into the Windows operating system so that it functions smoothly? Is this by default or do other steps need to be made? For example scannow and restorehealth displayed unfixed corruption problems. What pitfalls are there in the different methods?

Okay the high level backup of users\aaaaaaa does not work as there are issues down the APPDATA path. Your personal data files, documents, pictures will not be down this path. So you will have to refine backups to down a level example c\users\aaaaaaa\documents

The APPDATA path will contain items like FF or Chrome profile, they can be copied out individually and Edge Favorites DB. Which browser do you, do you sign into browser. (I hope so as bookmarks/favorites are then copied to cloud.)

Office Outlook 20xx by default can place the PST file here, why by default it is not in documents in the old version I do not know. Believe in the newer version it is within document library, thankfully. Do think you use Office Outlook 20xx so no issue

The link I sent you to rebuild EFI opens at Topgundcp commands. In my opinion the way to go hence I bookmark it. This was to answer the concerns about the EFI partition.

The BCDBoot command is the build / integration. His was BCDboot c:\windows /s U: /f uefi

So start BCDBoot with source located in c:\windows and the system drive /S is U: (set in Mountvol command) and the firmware type is UEFI so /f UEFI

If you already have a U: drive you need to pick a letter not in use.

    BCDboot Command

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...ons-techref-di

Yes at some point I would delete all stray files although you might be able to find some way to reconstruct but I would not waste effort and it will take, in my opinion, months to piece together. Just the errors in the previous post, onedrive exe and multiple Cache files. This is not your data and anything with the word cache is temporary.

The Macrium backup of the users aaaaaaa completed with the errors as in the earlier post:

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-backup-completed-errors-reading-9-18-2018.png

The browser bookmarks are ok to lose and can be restarted.

Office had been installed and was uninstalled to make sure that the servers could see that it was uninstalled and make it easier to reinstall.

Does the Windows 10 method work the same as Windows 8 (topgundcp)?
In the link he had delete everything under U:\EFI folder
The chk folder appears to be separate. Once in U if the other folder is visible the it should be able to be deleted too?

    Code:
    mountvol U: /s
    del /s /f /q U:\efi\*.*
    bcdboot c:\windows /s U: /f UEFI
    mountvol U: /d

    Shutdown and Reboot

1st command: UEFI firmware looks for EFI System Partition, mount it then assign the drive letter U:
    (More efficient than using diskpart).
2nd command: Delete everything under U:\EFI folder
3rd command: Rebuild the BCD to boot from. NOTE: Macrium does the same thing to fix the boot problems
4th command: Unmount EFI System partition and unassign the drive letter U:

NOTE: there's a space before the forward slash (/) in each command

For the backups the most important backups are from Microsoft office file endings, tax file endings, PDF, etc.
    The browsers can be reinstalled.
Once bookmarks are created and there is a failure in the future how would they be backed up if there were anticipated problems with Macrium

The EFI partition boot sector is like its own operating system? Are there any steps once it is deleted and created to have it work properly with the Windows operating system or can that be anticipated? With this drive having a corrupt operating system by scannow and restorehealth is there anything extra that may need to be done?

This is the current file explorer after the Macrium folder users aaaaaaa backup:

That the Macrium backup completed with six six errors is really good news.

    Did you verify it?

Did you try to restore a file?

Both just to know the back up is usable and you've used.

Since Macrium was so complete you should be able to get necessary files should you decide.

The commands that were provided as far as I know should work on 10. If you look back through the thread I also posted out to Kyhi's command and the Bcdboot command is replicated. As a matter of fact the primary command bcdboot with a small variation was provided yesterday on a Windows 10 by NavyLCDR.

From my understanding, although not testing, everything in the EFI partition will be deleted. The DEL command has the /f switch to delete read only files.

If there are other partial files / folders in other folder they will have to be dealt with separately. In any event I don't believe they should cause an upgrade error. Run sfc /scannow on your c: drive to see if you have any integrity issues.

For future backups of bookmarks, there are lots of strategies. One, sign into browser. Two understand what browser you are using and where they store their files and copy them or use something like File sync or File history. I moved my firefox profile into my documents library so it is backed up as part of my data. Four, include Appdata path in Macrium purchased definitions.

I guess the real message is know what data is important to you and where it is being stored. Once you know where it is you can attack.

Using Macrium, keeping more than version and verifying should mean a problem free restore.

When you issue the bcdboot command it goes to your Windows on c: and builds the info. Done.

Should you be concerned you could Image just your EFI partition before trying. It fails, you boot Kyhi's disk, you restore. This is the beauty of Macrium.

Your last screen shot of aaaaaaa, I see your 188GB folder backup. As I said above I would try restoring a file. You want to be confident, then you can move to next step.

The Macrium backup image was made using Kyhi boot rescue.
The computer is now booted to Windows using the control + L keys.
    Macrium was opened.

I've forgotten and it was earlier in the thread.

What are the steps for verification?

What are the steps for restore? Which drive are used for restore from and restore to? any drives? With these only being the users folders it does not matter? If it were the whole drive with boot and system would that cause problems? Would it need to be a clean drive or would there be problems with multiboot and other problems?

Clicking the restore tab then browse image displayed four boxes all with dates from 7/18/2018 all on F:

Navigating to E: this is what was seen:

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-check-image-drive-e-9-18-2018.png

Verify = Post 32 this thread, you will have to click File and folder restore tab as we are not verifying Image as you did in #32

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-image.png

Restore = Link in post #104

You would attempt to restore from the file folder backup you made today on 4TB

    Did you verify this backup?

Did you restore a file from this backup?

When using Kyhi boot rescue how do you find the backup image to verify and then restore a file?

The file is seen in file explorer as you displayed in the earlier post.

When Kyhi boot rescue > Macrium > image restore > select an image restore > E: > what is the path to the file when it is not seen?

These were the images using Kyhi boot rescue:

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-image-verification-using-kyhi-oot-rescue-9-22-2018.png

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-image-restore-kyhi-oot-rescue-9-22-2018.png

With the VSS somehow fixing itself an additional image was made.
    These are the images:

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-backup-settings-after-vss-fix-9-21-2018-drive-c-drive-e.png

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-backup-settings-after-vss-fix-9-21-2018-drive-c-drive-e-part-2.png

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-completion-additional-backup-image-9-21-2018.png

Boot failure after chkdsk /r No bootable image found-macrium-windows-boot-image-successfully-verifier-9-21-2018.png

A restore I've not yet done and need to read the method.
The drive with the most free space is the 4 TB external storage drive.
Will it allow restore from E: to E: to check the restore capability or will it need to be moved from one drive to another drive?

In this case the backup and restore are important.

When a backup image is routinely made what percent of the time are there problems or no problems where you always verify?

When a backup image is routinely made what percent of the time are there problems or no problems where even after verification there is or is not a problem with restore?

Your first image looks like you verified Folder backup, done.

Second image looks like you did a restore. If not you were on right path. Just pick a file.

Don't restore the whole thing just a file. You are auditing, spot checks.

You should be able to restore a file to any location. I haven't used their file restore. Just Images and or copy back a file with explorer. You can't copy back because of the excessive file names so we are testing restore.

I always verify my backups. In Macrium default settings Verify after backup is set to N. It can be changed to Y. With backups I'm not trying to impress anyone with speed, I want accuracy. If the verify has to run 30 minutes in the background who cares.

I can say I've never had a verify fail so it must be very infrequent. There is that thread on Macrium, who could ask there.

How much do you trust Macrium Reflect?

I think you will see the general consensus... Macrium has saved everyone's butt on multiple occasions and failures are few and far between. Still it is important to have versions of backups. Sh** happens regularly with computers.

Basically it sounds like you are ready to clean install. One file restore and go.
