Quick Access is locked. How can I enable it to make use of it

The title says it all. There ia a lot of information on how to disable Quick Access, or loose it, sell it, hide it, etc. I also searched the Tutorials, and found nothing. Perhaps someone can direct me to the instructions, if they exist. Thank you.

Can you explain "locked". You can't add link to it? Or is it missing?

this tutorial is also for enabling it..

Locked means disabled. The icon and the arrowhead to the left is faintly visible but inactive, but I can't drag a folder or attempting "pinning" it on the context menu does nothing. In any case the registry entry provided is to reveal or hide in my case. I tested it and it does exactly the reverse. DWORD = "0" reveals it and "1" hides it. I am using version 1803, and all my views are set to details regardless of the folder contents.

Could be a problem with permissions, but I'm not sure.

Did you tried other hacks about Quick access? tenforums tutorials | 2712-add-remove-frequent-folders-quick-access-windows-10

Also check , if this happens in different user accounts (make a new, test one, if you don't have other users on system). and running "sfc /scannow" in admin command prompt would also be good idea

ineuw, did some search and came across this thread on MS forums:

    answers-microsoft | cant-pin-any-folder-to-quick-access-in-file

    recommended solution:

Open the command windows by typing 'cmd' - I would do it with admin rights

    del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\*

    del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\*

    del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations\*
(to be sure) restart your computer
You can do this manually, by copying firsta part (without \*) of the path in Explorer and delete shortcuts there.

AndreTen, you are a prince, and thanks for the solution. Deleting the accumulated data of the folders, enabled quick access.
