I installed Sea Tools for Windows. The HDD is a Seagate Hdd. When I open the software the HDD read E: but when opening Windows said it need to format the drive.

Instead, I ran a Long Fix All test that ran over an hour then went into another phase that stalled a 10%. I aborted, then ran a S.M.A.R.T. check that passed immediately. Then tried a Short Drive which seems stalled at 10%.

If if doesn't on your wife's then it's down to gremlins in her system (again).
Grimlins win. Seagate tool fails & the drive will not format. Windows calls it RAW. Got a new SSD ordered & will arrive by Wednesday. Will investigate PC Matic issue.
