[SOLVED] Creating a registry key for a universal context menu entry?

I am a constant user of Textpad test editor, in every context, but their setup option to have "Open with Textpad" on every context menu is broken in Windows 10.

Occasionally, I also use Notepad++, but it is not a substitute because of the collection of editing tools, templates, and macros developed over the years. But Notepad++ inserted itself in every context menu of W10 and I tracked down the only two Registry keys involved in their scheme,, and this is what I want to duplicate somehow.
    Code:
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B298D29A-A6ED-11DE-BA8C-A68E55D89593}\Settings
    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B298D29A-A6ED-11DE-BA8C-A68E55D89593}\Settings
Please note the relationship between the two. The <Subkey name><Value name>=<Value type>:<Value data>
are identical in the two keys, Is this possible for one to do this?

Hi, just tried this for you on build 1709; v8
Had to run the installer as admin and in Win 8 compatibility mode.

A context menu entry was created and available for jpg, pdf, txt, rtf... those were the only ones I tried.

Thanks dalchina, I will have to uninstall it completely and reinstall it tomorrow as W8 compatible, because modifying the installation and the .exe file, didn't correct the issue. Otherwise, I always install software as admin.

dalchina, regretfully it didn't work, tried emulation as Windows 8 and then 7, uninstalling and reinstalling each time. So, I searched the web and there were several free Context menu editors for Windows 10, selected one of them and added it to every place I could.

Are you using the same version of Textpad and did you run as admin and in compatibility mode?

I'm using build 1709. If you're on 1803 I suppose there could be some strange compatibility problem. Suggest you take this up with the author.

Yes, I am using 1803 and is what I missed mentioning in my post. I also posted at Textpad, but I guess that everyone on their website are away on summer vacation. England is still Europe.
