    changing Homescreen options

I'm wondering if anyone knows how I could change my homescreen to display a directory other than my desktop, for example my downloads, or pictures etc.

The reason why I'm asking is because everything is being stored on the desktop under my OneDrive and I want to change it so that my homescreen displays my regular desktop, not the one under Onedrive.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi cg21315 Welcome to the TenForums @cg21315

I'm not really sure I understand what you want to do and while I may not be able to help could you post a screen shot of your current desktop. Might help members to understand issue. Please ensure you remove any personal information like email addresses, etc.

I might be wrong, but I think OP is talking about Desktop and OneDrive Protected Folders. If so, Desktop folder icon in File Explorer > This PC will show OneDrive's cloud-like icon:

Do the following to change it:

Right click OneDrive icon in notification area:

Name:	image.png
Views:	1
Size:	62.6 KB

A small pop-up window opens. Select Settings:

Settings will open. Under Auto-save tab, select Update folders:

    Click Stop protecting:

    Confirm:

That's it. Your desktop is now empty, OneDrive desktop no longer shown and you can put anything you want to on desktop.

One other option that I've seen many times over the years is an incorrect allocation of a special folder's location, to check ...

Navigate to your User Folder under the "Users" folder You should be able to see a number of the special folders, Pictures, Downloads Etc, one of these will be called Desktop, (you may need to set show hidden ).

Right click the folder and you should see a Location Tab, Selecting the Restore Default button should restore the default, (actual), desktop, If/when Prompted Do not choose to move files as this would relocate the Onedrive files which is I would believe is not required

If this does not work there is a fault with the system files but this may be corrected with some coding changes in hidden folders which we can discuss if needed
