    Icons and Folders Disappear

This issue just happened twice in the last week. Did a search and there were very old threads related to this but none of the fixes worked. I image my C drive every other day so it only takes about 3 mins to restore, but that's not the point. All the icons on the desktop and folders in the C drive disappear. The text is left and you can click on the text and the shortcut still works. Both times that this happen was after a reboot. Upon the reboot they were hidden somewhere.

    Hello Bob,

If you haven't already, you might see if rebuilding the icon cache may help.

Thanks for the info. I will try that the next time it happens. Since I do Macrium backups every two days it only takes approx. 3 min to restore my C drive. I just can't figure out why it is doing that all of a sudden.

That's some rig! Just a thought, if you have Fast Startup enabled, turn it off. Maybe the updates from last Tuesday (10th) turned it on. I've seen stranger things with updates.

I double checked but I don't have the options to turn on or off as I have the hibernate turned off. I just turned hibernate back on and the option was available so I turned fast startup off. Then turned off hibernate. See what happens.

Superfetch service. Really not necessary with that config. Just another little piece of the pie.
