I have a 2tb Hard Drive to replace 1tb (install question) Win10x64

OLD HD 1 TB with 800 GB on it 5 yrs old making grindy/clicky sounds for 6 mo still work (in now)
NEW Western Digital 2 TB will be boot disk slot "C:"

I know how to open a case, remove the old and install new (2TB). I am open to spending more money if needed (I can also have both installed at once). The 1TB is making sounds, seems slower("laggy") but still functions.

What process/method do I follow to put Win 10 on the NEW HD (2TB) & copy data from the old HD? I am looking for the semi quick route. Do I just "redownload" it all? Or can I "transfer it" if I put both in? Do you have a quick tip or link for this new Win 10 X64 install on the NEW drive & a transfer of all data?

The problem is if the old drive has bad blocks and you clone it the bad block will be on the new drive unless you take special means to prevent that. MR has a special setting for this but if you dont use it you will have bad blocks on the new drive. It far better to do a clean install

That old drive is failing and is most likely full of useless junk pointing to nowhere I would back up all of your personal data. Perform a clean install and copy the personal data to the new installed H.D. Can't beat a clean install for getting rid of gremlins.

1.Turn your PC off.
2. Unplug power and says cables from old hdd.
3.Remove old hard drive and put new hard drive in where the old one was.
4. Plug in the hdd power cable and sta cable unplugged from old hard drive into the new hard drive.
You could use a new sata cable for the hard drive, but it isn't mandatory.
5. Power on PC, press Delet key on keyboard to get into UEFI/BIOS.
6. Press F5 to load Optimized Default. then do any setting changes you had their before and press F10 to save and exit.
7. Insert your Windows 10 Flash Drive into a USB 2.0 port on the back of your case or it's front panel. (Note: USB 3.0 ports don't work for installing Windows 10 1803 (April 2018 Update).
8. Clean install Windows 10
9.Resetup Windows 10, run Windows Update until no updates are found, then install your drivers and restart your PC after each one. (Make sure to install the Chipset driver first and then all others).
10. Proceed to installing software/app's, reconfiguring them and then getting back to normal pc usage, as always.

P.S/ Trusting getting files for your main hard drive from a previous failing hard drive is useless.
You'll come across too many bugs, due to bad failed from the failing old hard drive.
It's less of a headache to start from scratch with everything freshly installed and less old useless files that need removing and also taking up more space.
Personally I do a clean install everytime Microsoft releases a new Windows 10 Feature Update.
