    garbled/strange/unintelligible file names; not chinese


    hi, got a 'new' laptop and transferred files from usb memory for stress testing, this is how it looks - any help?

    Hi, please post a screenshot of file explorer viewing the files/folders on your USB drive. In your opinion, do the file/folder names look normal?

    I assume the screenshot above is of the copied files/folders as they are on your PC's drive.

    hi dalchina, as the laptop is 'new' i ran a reset. checked in explorer, all files were normal. accessed usb stick and saw corruption, tried another usb stick and all ok now - must have been the usb stick which 'died' on me. thanks for coming back... helped me think , please mark as SOLVED
