Changed Desktop Background At Home, And It Changed Office Background.

can't quite figure out what's going on here...

    - had three windows 10 pcs networked at my business location (miles from home), all with different desktop backgrounds, all with slightly different configurations.

    - one of the three pcs was purchased for home use, it was just more convenient to set up / configure at work.

    - once setup was complete, i took the pc home, leaving 2 pcs networked at my business.

    - significant other didn't like the desktop background i had chosen for the home (media) pc, so we changed it.

    - came into the office the next day and one of the remaining two networked pcs had the same background my significant other had chosen, the one we installed on the home pc, i.e. it had replaced the previous office pc background.

so how did this happen? my home pc is no longer networked with my office pc(s), even if it was, changing the desktop background shouldn't impact the other pcs... i may have been logged into my office google account at home, but would that do it?

fwiw, we downloaded a wallpaper image from the net at home, saved it to the desktop, opened it with windows photo viewer, right clicked the image, and selected "set as desktop background".

the image doesn't even exist on my office pc as far as i know, i mean i know i've never downloaded it before at my office.

any help with this crazy turn of events would be much appreciated!

The desktop background will sync to your Microsoft Account. This is why.

I formatted earlier this year and when I got to the first desktop it was a picture I had used before instead of the normal Windows 10 clean install picture. I was totally dumbfounded when I saw it until I was told about the sync.

You may want to check if your settings are synced. Enable or Disable Sync Your Settings in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    i thought about that but:

    - i wasn't signed into my microsoft account at home or at work, in fact i pretty much never sign into my ms account.

    - when i set up the pc at my office, before taking it home, i changed the desktop background on all 3 networked windows 10 pcs, many times, played with desktop backgrounds to death, and never once did changing one change another.

ok, checked my two networked office pcs, one had sync turned off (the one that didn't have the background changed), the other (that had the background changed) had sync turned to on, i'm guessing my home pc has it turned on as well...

so my question is, does sync automatically become re-enabled after major windows updates? i ask because i know i had sync turned off on all three pc at one time, and i've never turned it back on.

I don't use Sync so have little experience with it. From the tutorial I linked to it says

"Sync settings also works if you sign in with a work or school account linked to your Microsoft account."

It may pay to just check. I really know of no other reason it would do what it did.

I really can't answer that as I know a lot of settings get changed with a major update. But, my sync settings didn't change, which doesn't necessarily mean yours didn't.
