Told to contact admin - but i am admin!

I wanted to save a txt file to C: and got told I didn't have permission to save in that location: contact admin. But I have admin, am an administrator.

    How does all that work?

p.s. sharing is enabled. Administrators have full control.

Right click and run the program as an Administrator. Then you should be able to save it to the C:.

Thanks for that. I should have known. I've made the same mistake before and been told about it on these forums. Just because you're admin doesn't mean things you run are run as admin... ahhh...

Thanks. I'll try to remember. We can't set a switch somewhere - everything run by admin is to be run as by admin?

where did you get that notepad desktop app thing from?

    ah... found it via cortana....

I just typed Notepad in the Start Menu then right clicked it in the results. OR You can navigate to Start> Windows Accessories> Notepad.

Edit: Normally when you saving to drives/folders dealing with the Windows System Environment you'll need to RunAs Admin.

I use notepad ++ and if you are saving a file that needs admin privileges it will ask you if you want to restart the program, You just click yes then it restarts and you can then save it.
