desktop icons move constantly
My desktop icons have begun to change around all the time and the taskbar gets thicker and thicker.
Anyone else having this problem?
How do i tell when Microsoft last updated my OS?

Have a look at your Update History in Settings. How do i tell when Microsoft last updated my OS?
Thanks. It gives 6/14 which is way too long ago to be the culprit
This began happening about 2-3 days ago.
- do you mean while you are using the PC? - or on reboot?begun to change around all the time
Do you have any restore points you can use? (System Restore will only be available if you have specifically enabled it since the last upgrade).
If not, have you followed our continual recommendations to use disk imaging routinely? (E.g. Macrium reflect (free) + external storage for disk image sets).
Have you installed any programs in that time- or uninstalled any?
Try creating a new user for test purposes, and compare what happens when logged in as that user.
While using

The only one was a Firefox update. I posted the problem on the Firefox forum first and they say it's impossible for it to create this problem.Have you installed any programs in that time- or uninstalled any?

That doesn't make a lot of sense unless I've misunderstood something. It happens constantly. Far too often for either of these solutions to be useful.
Can you confirm - for example- that 3 days ago you didn't have this problem- but now you do?
If so, a restore point or an image 4 days ago, for example, may well resolve this.
If not, why do you think they wouldn't?
Or has this been the case ever since you installed Windows or received the PC?
Again:
Try creating a new user for test purposes, and compare what happens when logged in as that user.

I'm not sure what I need to clarify
Yes, no more than 4 days and maybe 2 (3 now). Can you confirm - for example- that 3 days ago you didn't have this problem- but now you do?
I turn off restore points. Every time I've tried to use them since they began in XP they never work for me. They're always corrupt or have some issue that prevents them working, but I end up rebooting twice or three times for nothing. My most recent image file is now a week old, I resist losing a weeks data. Today, Saturday, is my day to create a new one.If so, a restore point or an image 4 days ago, for example, may well resolve this.
If not, why do you think they wouldn't?
I resist this for a couple of reasons. Primarily because I have 80-90 icons on my desktop. Some never move. I'm not sure how many or what kind I would have to add to know it was a meaningful test.Again:
Try creating a new user for test purposes, and compare what happens when logged in as that user.
I've decided to just live with it for a while and see if it heals.
