Windows stuck on spinning wheel on startup

    Hi,

When I started my computer this morning, and I found it was super slow and lagging on even very basic applications, so I had to force shut it down because it got so bad that it froze and wouldn't respond. When I started it back up I got the loading sign with the windows logo, then after a few seconds the logo disappeared and I have left with the spinning loading sign for about 5 hours now.

My computer is a custom gaming pc with a GTX-760 with an i5 processor running Windows 10

    Any help is appreciated

    Cheers

Hi, as far as you know,
    - had your PC already upgraded to build 1803?
    - could this have been related to an update or upgrade?
    - did you make any changes yesterday?

Please complete the specs for your machine (compare mine).

Please download and create Kyhi's boot disk, available from the top of the Software and Apps section here. You will see there are many utilities.

Boot your PC from that, and advise performance (are there any obvious problems...).

Run HD Tune from Start Menu or desktop shortcut and post a screenshot/photo of the SMART parameters.
Click on its Error scan tab and run a scan of your internal system disk. Is it ok?

Do you have a current disk image? (We constantly urge people to use disk imaging).
Is System Restore enabled on your PC?

You can determine the build level of your Windows by navigating to explorer.exe on the internal drive, rt click, properties, details. Note that your Windows partition will most probable not be C: - so choose the right drive letter carefully.
What is the build of your Windows?

    Run chkdsk z: /scan
replacing z with the drive letter of your Windows partition.
    What is the result?
