Win 10 machine,
Every time I reboot this desktop. It re-sets a item in the volume mixer. The one seen here that is now shut off.
Every time the computer starts it turns that back on, and it causes an endless feedback loop that continues to build in volume until I get into the mixer and shut it off again.
What can I do to make it STOP changing my settings?

Hi, to provide a quick fix for now, use nircmd (free) - a tiny command utility that can do many things.
Here you would put one line in a batch file to mute the problem volume control, and have that run on startup.
Otherwise you would need to determine either
a. is the setting (muted) correctly written to the registry, so when you restart, that setting is retained.
or
b. what is writing to the registry to unmute it. (I.e. look for a startup that is doing this).
You can disable startups using
- list of startups in Task manager
- Autoruns (free) for many more
See what I do not understand, is that IS my sound card that I use. If left un checked ( NOT Muted) it causes a endless feedback loop that any sound gets it started and builds to massive volumes!
Muting it immediately stops it.
BUT......... and there always is a BUT isn't there?
The Soundblaster sound card is still fully functional! HUH? I still hear everything, go into SB's control panerl and make audio changes and the audio changes and it proves that I'm still using it and hearing it. so what is getting Muted? Who Knows
Just need to lock that setting on that slider not to change. he he he

I've given you an immediate 'fix' and a suggestion as to how to investigate it. It sounds like you're looking for a different answer. Maybe someone can provide one.
muteapp volume xxxxxx.exe ....
- should mute the volume for a particular exe.
(not tried it personally but nirsoft's utilties are well-regarded).
You just need to identify the relevant exe corresponding to the problematic volume control.
That's meant as a workaround while you investigate, so you can use your PC normally- or you could leave it as a fix-
I tried to download it 64 bit version, and got a file (zip) that had three files in it, but all just seem to be help files, no program?
