Hp laptop screen won’t display except occasionally

Hello, this issue has started fairly recently and I’m having trouble diagnosing the issue. Whenever I power on the device, the screen stays completely pitch black and won’t display anything. After restarting the system several times over and over again, I can get the screen to light up with the hp logo, but the screen freezes and I cannot progress. If I spam the esc key while restarting, it loads me into the startup menu where I have access to the bios settings; however, whenever I click “system recovery” or continue with regular startup, the device restarts and freezes again on the hp logo. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue? The laptop is fairly new but it’s had issues in the past where it couldn’t run the newest version of Windows 10 without freezing, so instead-as if currently, it is running Windows 10, 1511 (I believe). If anyone could give any insight, I’d VERY much appreciate it. I’ve spend countless hours with this device and it’s hard not to feel hopeless.
    Thanks

    - suggests a problem in the earliest stages of booting- maybe with recognising your system disk.

You need to separate the boot stages.

Try removing the disk from your laptop, and see what happens when you try to boot. Each time you should see a logo, then most likely a black screen with a horizontal white cursor top left.

Check this is consistent. If not, you have a hardware problem, or an issue with your BIOS.

    The laptop is fairly new
    - is it still under warranty?

If you find that's ok, then replace the disk. Try booting your PC from Kyhi's boot disk (from the top of the Software and Apps section here). Create a bootable USB disk (or burn to a DVD) from the iso.

As you will see there there are many utilities.

First use HD Tune to check the laptop's internal disk.

Unfortunately, the laptop was given as a gift and only had a 3 month refurbished warranty with it. I tried disconnecting the drive, but the same issue occurs. I also tried to download Kyhi's boot disk on my flashdrive, but whenever I go to the boot menu in bios and connect, it says, " No bootable device-insert boot disk" I'm not sure if I did the process correctly. I opened it as a zip and transferred all the files to the flash drive. I'm not the most computer-literate, so maybe I did it wrong. I was able to do a components test where I found the memory and hard drive didn't have any issues from the startup menu. Those were the only two component tests offered. I think it said it was version 1.16 or something like that. not sure if that gives anything, but I want to supply as many details as possible.

I tried disconnecting the drive, but the same issue occurs.
    - this suggests BIOS corruption or a hardware problem...
Whilst you might try flashing the BIOS (updating it may be necessary to run Win 10- witness your problem above), you also say you have access to it.
Do you hear any beeps or sounds?

    Try steps 1,2 here:
Laptop freezes at HP logo without loading circle - HP Support Forum - 5997641

Check the version of your BIOS vs that listed on HP's site for your laptop.

I'm also wondering if this might be related to your CMOS battery inside your laptop. (This should be a normal circular battery).
How to replace the CMOS battery
    - but that's just a thought.

Worth asking on the HP forum.

Sorry that's not how to create a bootable disk. All that disk is is data storage- as you just copied the files to it.

    Please see:
How to Create a Bootable DOS USB Drive
for one way to do it using a free program.

However, given the above, doing that isn't likely to help you I'm afraid.

    1) Please update the specs in the "My Computer" section:
System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums | Windows 10 Tutorials
In the left corner below in your post you find 'My System Specs'.
After clicking it you can find a link a little below that says 'Update your System Spec', click on this link to get to the page where you can fill in your system specs.
System Info - See Your System Specs - Windows 7 Help Forums

Include PSU. cooler, case, peripherals and anything attached to the computer by wired or wireless (mouse, keyboard, headset, printer, xbox, port replicator, docking station, USB wireless network card, etc.)
    https://www.tenforums.com/profile.php?do=extra

    2) HP computers come with default BIOS UEFI diagnostics.
These are memory and drive and from your post it appears that you only have the default tests.

There are updated versions that have more tests.

Alternatively the testing can be done using a USB flash drive with the UEFI diagnostics.

All of these are different versions and have different capabilities/testing.

To find out what is already on the computer, power on the computer and repetitively click the F2 key.
This should open the BIOS UEFI diagnostics.
If available run the extensive test.
And if available run instead the loop until failure test. If neither of these are available then create a flash drive version:
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Official Site
HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures | HP® Customer Support

    3) What did you mean by disconnecting the drive on the notebook and the same thing happened?
Some HP notebooks have multiple HD bays including and a SSD? How many drives are there?

    4) Were there failures to upgrade Windows 1511? What were the error messages and codes?

    5) What source was used to install drivers?

    1) Just updated, thanks for letting me know.

    2) I just downloaded the extensive tests on an external drive and ran them. Everything passed.

    3) There is only one 500GB harddrive. It takes around 15 tries of restarting the laptop over and over again before I can get a response from the screen. When I disconnected the drive, The screen didn't turn on like before. I didn't try enough times to see what happens when the screen does eventually turn on, but I figured that There must be another issue if the screen has issues showing display. Once I can eventually get the response from the screen, the computer immediately freezes-unless I manage to enter the bios settings by spamming the esc key.

    4) There weren't any issues that I remember.

    5) I used the official HP website.

Thank you for your response and sorry for the very delayed reply, I got pretty discouraged from working on the device, but I'm looking to work on it again

As an aside, in your 'My Computer' details, few people will know what a '15-bk193ms' is. To save people Googling, perhaps amend it to 'HP Pavilion x360 15-bk193ms'? Just a thought.

From what I understand, to do steps 1-6, I need to access windows-or am I wrong? If so, I only have access to the startup menu with the bios options. If I progress to regular start up, it immediately freezes.
