Svchost.exe mass suspending and OS degredation

Sorry in advance for the long post, this is a very strange issue.

For a couple weeks now, I have been having issues with my operating system becoming unstable after a couple of hours of use. Mainly explorer.exe. My taskbar becomes unusable after a bit; I can't open anything on my taskbar or start menu, it animated the button clicks but nothing happens.

When I restart explorer.exe(with or without admin rights) my taskbar will only load the base elements and no third party elements will show and my desktop is blank with no wallpaper. The desktop and taskbar are also completely frozen after restarting the process; indicated by the loading symbol on the cursor.

Another thing I noticed while all this happens is when I open task manager(or a third-party process manager) I can see, over time, that more and more svchost processes become suspended. I believe this may be either a cause or at least a connected issue.

I saw that it could possible by malware that caused these processes to become suspended, but I ran a full system scan with Norton security suite, Malwarebytes, and spybot s&d and they all came up empty.

I did find a temporary fix which may have been a fluke(I haven't done much testing) but when I opened procexp64.exe(an extensive third-party task manager) with admin rights immediately after restarting, the issue never happened the entire time my system was active without rebooting.

Also restarting my system take a painfully long time to restart(around 5 to 10 minutes), but I don't know if this is connected or not.

I am on my phone right now. I will edit this and put system specs in shortly.

Hi GoldfishVendor and welcome to Tenforums.
    Let's check a few things:
    - ADWCleaner (just one last check for malware)
    Downloads - AdwCleaner - ToolsLib
    - Crystal Disk Info (check the health of your OS drive)
    Download Crystal Dew World
    (standard edition, exe file)
    -Turn off Fast Startup
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
    - Run DISM commands and System File Checker (to verify the integrity of OS files)
Open an admin command prompt and enter each command below, waiting for one to finish before starting the next:
    Code:
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    sfc /scannow
Type WINVER in the search box and run the command; post a screenshot of the version of Windows you are running.

Let us know the results of these. If no change, you may look at doing an in-place repair.

An in-place repair is easy to do. You can watch the video in this tut on how to do it.

Hi simrick, thank you for the response.
I ran ADWcleaner and it didn't show anything crucial; just old registry keys to remove.
My disk health was Good and there were no errors shown when running each command.
I also disabled fast startup. I didn't really notice any decrease or increase in startup time.
Here is my Windows version Svchost.exe mass suspending and OS degredation-winver.jpg. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to update, though I am hesitant which is why I disabled them in the first place.

The issue still persists. There is an important bit of info I missed in the OP. After a couple minutes of the system running, I am unable to open ANY program that requires or deals with andimistrative priveleges. When I do try to it gives me this Svchost.exe mass suspending and OS degredation-timeout.jpgsame error but obviously the path is different. I am still able to open procexp64.exe without admin rights.

This is another reason why I think it could be some form of malware, however, nothing detects it.

If I open procexp64.exe with admin rights as soon as possible, the running OS does not degrade.

@GoldfishVender, anything AdwCleaner lists can be crucial. AdwCleaner only lists registry keys if they are thought to be malicious. Did you clean them?

It would help @simrick if you attach the log file it produced: C:\AdwCleaner\Logs\AdwCleaner[S00].txt

    Yes, I did clean them.AdwCleaner[S00].txt
They are all potentially unwanted. Speedbit I had just uninstalled and didn't restart yet. Everything else in there I identified as having no relation.

    Hi.
Bree is correct - anything ADWCleaner identifies needs to be removed, even "old registry keys". The castplatform.com is part of an adware infection. The log you attached is the "scan" log. The cleaner log will be labeled as [C00] instead of [S00].
It certainly seems as if you are dealing with some sort of infection that either hasn't completely taken hold of the system, or has been only partially cleared out.

Can you create a new local admin user on the machine and see if it exhibits the same problems for us please? If it doesn't, then your current user account has become corrupted. In that case, I will suggest you:

    1. move your data to the new user account and delete the old, corrupted one, and
    2. download the latest version 1803, and run an in-place upgrade.

Of course, have a Macrium verified system image in place first, in case things go south.

    So. @simrick
I created a new user account with admin rights. When I logged on to it, everything seemed fine. I restarted a couple times and nothing bad seemed to happen. I even first logged into my main account and still no issues.

It's been over a day now without problems. I have no idea why. I did have another local admin account I created a long time ago, to test another issue, which I deleted before created this new aco****. I don't see how deleting that account could have anything to do with it as I haven't logged onto it in ages.

But anyways, everything seems to be fine, at least for now.
I will keep testing and in at least a couple days, if no issues still arise, I will mark this as solved.

Thank you for helping simrick :)

Well, I am baffled, because just creating a new account shouldn't fix problems in the old one! But, glad to hear things seems to be fixed. Yes, do give it a few days to see if it sticks.

An afterthought: Probably turning off Fast Startup had something to do with this.....

Possibly? Though I'm pretty sure I was still experiencing the problem even after I turned it off.
But I did turn it back on, I think after realizing it was "fixed."

I'm just as baffled but thanks again!
