Hey, so I did that, have access to the admin a/c and the settings and other short cuts are (thank you very much by the way) but when I try create a new user it opens a different screen titles lusmgr that doesn't allow me to great a new one. Will this new admin account allow me to do a full system reset? My main account (which has admin privilages) keeps getting an error saying there was a problem with resetting this pc as (something) is in use.
Dorian, before you do anything else, do you have a backup in case of things going wrong? Also, it would be a good idea to have a copy of Version 1803 (Build 17134.xx) on a bootable USB stick to reinstall, again, if things go terribly wrong.

Go to heidoc.net and download their Microsoft Office and Windows Download Tool and run it.

FYI: This tool allows an easy and comfortable way to download genuine Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 disk images (ISO) directly from Microsoft's servers, as well as Office 2010, Office 2013, Office 2016, and Office for Mac.

I haven't been there for awhile, so I don't remember the instructions, but it's pretty easy to understand how it goes.

I think I might be better off going the clean install route. It's a shame to lose some of my stuff but this is getting me nowhere and I do really need my PC back. Does anyone know if I will still be able to re download Microsoft office? I bought the personal version that gets me one pc copy and if I reinstall Windows and office will that count as a second use?

You should be able to reinstall Office, Dorian. I've reinstalled countless times, each time I do a clean install of Windows 10. Mine is a subscription and I have five eligible copies for my five machines, so I'd say, "Go for it!"

Cheers. I am genuinely curious what was wrong with my set up though. Had it years and all of a sudden it was as if the individual drives couldn't detect one another. Computers; they're great when they work ha!

Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread! I appreciate your time

Now that I think about it this might be a good opportunity to get a bigger SSD. I have a 124 as my C drive for Windows but at the time I didn't realise how big the install was. I could get a nice 500gig and use that since prices have come down in last few years. Wanted to for ages but the idea of a new c drive was a lot of work. Silver lining I guess!

I'd go for the larger SSD. I have a 500 GB SSD in this dual boot machine with a 1 TB regular Seagate drive for data.
