Unwanted transparent box in corner of screen

I have an unwanted transparent box that has recently appeared in the top right hand corner of my screen
I is always there irrespective of what program I am using
Clicking on it does nothing and I cant drag it
I am using Bitdefender antivirus and a full system scan has not shown any problem
When I try to print the screen the box doesn't show so I have attached a photo showing it
Any advice on what it is and how to remove it would be appreciated

I'm guessing this is a desktop PC .. have you tried switching your display cable such as the HDMI cable to see if this makes any difference? also kinda a long shot but maybe re-installing your graphics drivers?

    Hi Brandon
Yes it is a desktop PC but I don't have a HDMI cable attached to it just the normal multipin cable
Not sure about the graphics card
Last week there were several Windows updates installed and I wonder if it has anything to do with them

It seems like part of the taskbar if you right click on the taskbar under toolbars anything there? Anything running in task manager you can close

This is the same section of my Edge on a Notebook with Win10 Version 1803 Build 17134.112 [latest], doesn't have that box with the star:
    Attachment 192684
Could it be a third-party add-on/extension doing it?
Also, it doesn't show in Firefox.

    Hi Samuria
There is nothing showing under toolbars and task manager only shows the programs that I have open

    Hi Guru
The star is just the add to favourites icon and not associated with the transparent box
if there is a program open and nothing on the screen in that area then the box is just blank
It could be a third party add on and that's what concerns me but a full scan did not reveal anything

    Hi Berton
I just downloaded Firefox but my Bitfender antivirus then wanted to close it
As edge seems to be the preferred browser for Windows 10 I am hoping to solve the problem there

In my Edge the star has 3 bars protruding to the right, opens more choices such as a star for Favorites, was the prompt for my question about third-party add-ins/extensions because when your image is expanded it shows that star but also the box containing a star you ask about.

    Hi Guru
Clicking on the star with the three bars just opens my favourite web page list
Then clicking on Favourites Bar does nothing
But I have just noticed that when I reduce the size of the Edge window the transparent box disappears and then reappears when I enlarge the window
