    Laptop buying advice

    I am considering these two laptops for my younger brother who is planning to launch his own youtube channel and want to edit videos. We have a budget constraint of 36000 INR. Which one would be better from the following models? One laptop has a better CPU while the other one has a better graphics card which has got me confused.

    Asus Vivobook Max A541Uv-Dm977T Processor = 7Th Gen Intel Core™ i3 7100U Processor
    RAM = 4GB DDR4 RAM
    GRAPHICS = Nvidia Geforce 920M-2GB DDR3 GRAPHICS

    Buy Asus Vivobook Max A541Uv-Dm977T (7Th Gen Intel Coretm I3 7100U Processor/4GB Ddr4/1TB Hdd/15.6Fhd/Nvidia Geforce 920Mx-2GB Ddr3/Win 10 Home), Black Online at Low Prices in India - Amazon.in

    For video work I'd prefer the Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPUs or maybe AMD A6 or A8 APUs [Accelerated Processing Unit]. Notebooks usually have onboard/built-in graphics processors, not much room to add a better one. Sometimes having more RAM is better than processor speed so I'd like [and do] 8GB when possible and most all processors at 1.8GHz or faster are good. Just a note, I've been a fan of AMD CPUs since my first in '92 and my Custom builds have been AMD but do have Notebooks and a couple Dell Desktops with Intel CPUs.

    The second system (i3-6006U) is lame. You don't buy that system. You chuck it into the landfill.
    The first system is a bit better, but nothing to write home about.

    If you're on a tight budget get a desktop computer. Laptops cost more for performance and break down much more frequently.
    If you're not buying a "business" laptop (starting up near $1000 USD) don't buy it. Not ever. Home laptops are JUNK JUNK JUNK JUNK.
    Get a desktop instead.

    Whatever laptop you buy, a SSD is well worth having and ensure the battery is user replaceable.

    I have also shortlisted the following laptop as well.
    Acer Aspire 5 (NX.GT1SI.001) Laptop (Intel Core i5 (8th Gen)/4GB/1TB HDD/15.6(39.62 cm)/Linux/2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce MX150 Graphics), Steel Grey - Rs. 37,990

    Amazon.in: Acer Aspire 5 (NX.GT1SI.001))

    It has processor of Intel Core i5-8250U @ 1.60GHz and Asus Vivobook Max A541Uv-Dm977T has a processor of Intel Core i3-7100U @ 2.40GHz. Which processor will be faster? Of Acer Aspire 5 or Asus Vivobook?

    I'm targeting laptops only as my brother will be traveling a lot. Therefore desktop doesn't fit the requirements.

    Within my budget, I'm not getting SSD in any laptop.

    Hi there.

    No point having a laptop with only 4GB RAM --especially if an I7. You need at least 8GB plus an SSD.

    Personally for decent lightweight reasonably powerful laptops go with the new HP series although expect to pay (at least in Europe) around 700 to 800 EUR inc VAT.

    Not having an SSD in a laptop will only buy you frustration etc -- doesn't matter if you have the fastest CPU in the universe if the Disk I/O subsystem only operates at "Glacial Speed" !!!!!

    The YouTube personality concept makes me cringe, but that being said, the people who do this spend the time and money on quality equipment. Editing video on a low-end laptop with a spinner drive isn't worth it, in my book. That's like trying to haul a boat with a Prius. I'd plan to wait and add to the budget so you can include enough horsepower to do the job, including flash storage. Also, plan to include a better webcam and microphone then what a laptop ships with.

    You may also consider buying something refurbished. I have a Dell Latitude E7240 as my personal laptop. It cost me $400USD at MicroCenter. It has an i7, 16 GB of memory, 128 GB SSD, and a touchscreen 1920x1080 display. I upgraded to a 500 GB SSD, but the rest was included.
