Moving Desktop
I want to move my desktop from the 'One Drive' in my User account to the C drive. I am wary of losing any file associations, shortcuts etc. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, not sure why or how your desktop folder exists only in your 'One Drive' account... here's the reference for moving it- and for more, see the links at the end of the tutorial.

Did you deliberately relocate it there at some point?
If you're not certain about this, I would check its default location first before doing anything.
Associations are not affected at all. That's an entirely separate matter.
Your desktop is basically just a folder, so you can back up its content first - recommended. (Ideally have as little on it it as you really need).
It's the way Win 10 sets it up. For some reason it puts your Download and Desktop folder in the 'one drive.'....which is used to lure you into a cloud account. So that is its default location, at least on this system. I'm just wondering if I change location in the properties of this folder will my desktop shortcuts still work?
Hello Orealius,
In addition, double check your OneDrive settings using the tutorial below to make sure "Desktop" is set to auto save to "This PC only".

I tried to get to one drive settings but there is no option for
'settings.' The rt. click only takes me to the one drive folder!
No...just the usual context menu items. But the One Drive Folder is there!
