I've already posted this video about it, although I'm not an expert.
And no! "Quick Launch" is not the easiest and simplest way.

Add Taskbar Toolbars - TenForumsTutorials [see Option 4] And I added some extra guidance in a later post on that tutorial
Taskbar Toolbars - my drag them to the left ditty - TenForums
You can create any folder you want. I created one called Menus and it has evolved to be my main UI for Windows

Ummmmmmmmm, following your video, I can safely tell ya, it's so much like my method of creating Quick Launch it's unreal! The only real difference seems to be that the Quick Launch folder is already created for me; I have to create my own folder with your method.
The thing that seems to make the TF Quick Launch Tutorial so complicated is that we're given a lot more options options and choices than what you or I give with our individual creations.
And, yep, I'm going to be caught using your method to be 100% sure of the similarities and differences.
You can also create a toolbar folder without the Label or folder icon, just the double arrow, if you want it that way.
I believe the OP originally wanted to be able to drag a Firefox internet shortcut to the Taskbar Proper, (not a Toolbar), without having to jump through a bunch of hoops.
Then, later on, he also mention pinning particular files in the same manner.
Wow.
As the OP, I didn't really expect this thread to continue so deep without an easy fix. Windows 10. Go figure!
What I want to do is take a desktop shortcut (any shortcut) and drop it onto the default taskbar. That's it.
Wynona has the right idea but it is a bit of a PITA (in terms of time) to implement.
If anyone should find a faster and easier solution, feel free to chime in!
Perhaps I should contact Stardock, since they have much experience with these software tricks.
Thanks for everyone's input!
