    What about my post #3?

    Did that, but the amount of work for just a Internet Shortcut is just a bit much, lol! :)

    Thanks anyway! :)

    Let's regroup!

    Too many good cooks in the kitchen, lol.

    Remember Windows XP? You could "bring down" any shortcut/file and place it on the taskbar for fast access.
    That's what I am looking for. So has anyone out there om the internet written a program to do it?

    With W10, I am just limited to Applications and not much else, to place on the taskbar.

    Can't place internet shortcuts, word or text files, etc.
    The OS wants to pin these items to their respective applications, not let you add them gracefully to the taskbar.

    For example, if you create a URL shortcut in Firefox to your Desktop, that's OK.
    Now bring in down to the Taskbar and it will want you to "Pin it" to Firefox.
    You cannot have it on the main Taskbar, which is a real pain for fast access.

    Ready for more ideas, lol!

    Thanks! :)

    In IE if I open the web site, and then drag its icon from the address bar down to my taskbar, it creates a shortcut to that web page. I have one pined for Environment Canada that opens to my location by default. One click and I know what the weather is. I have several more that open the url to my web cameras.

    What your asking for is exactly what you can do when you use the " Link " feature on the toolbar, that i demo'd with my LG Laptop :)
    Even tho i used win7 as a base os it works exactly the same in win10.
    It does not matter if it's a shortcut to a text document, internet shortcut, shortcut to a program, a video / picture link, mail application / other programs, anything you place in that folder will appear in the links toolbar that's on the taskbar, and it will open up the exact file/.exe you linked it to.
    Also it does not have to look like it does for me in my SS example here, you can rename / change icons so that they fit the toolbar.Why can't I add desktop shortcuts to the Taskbar in W10 Pro?-tb.png

    @Edwin -

    What browser are you using to do that? IE? I use Firefox 62.

    @xTL -

    Yes, I know about the Links toolbar. I just don't want the word "Links" shown.
    I could live with it, though if need be. Perhaps if I create a New Toolbar?

    Bottom line -

    I want to be able to have all my desktop shortcuts (many internet) to just drag/drop cleanly onto the Taskbar.

    Thanks for all the replies.
    I appreciate all of them!

    Compumind,

    Yes, creating your own Toolbar allows you to call it whatever you want.
    - My main one is called Menus because that takes up the smallest possible Taskbar space. It is a toolbar based on the contents of a folder called Menus - that's how the naming works.
    - I also have a second Toolbar called Favorites [this name is dictated by the system because it is my IE Favorites folder - I would have to rename/relocate the folder in order to rename this Taskbar toolbar].

    You can have subfolders within the Menus toolbar and they fly out XP-style. You can put whatever you want in your own toolbars. I have a mixture of shortcuts to individual files & folders and shortcuts to applications & my own batch/vbs/powershell files as well as internet shortcuts.

    @Compumind

    If you want to put web shortcuts on the Taskbar via the Folder Toolbar method, you'll still need to create the shortcuts, then put them in a folder, then choose the folder from 'New Toolbar' and customize the Taskbar in the following manner:

    If you want to pin web shortcuts to the Taskbar proper using Firefox, you'll have to create the shortcuts the old fashioned way...

    eg,:
    C:/ProgramFiles/Firefox.exe "tenforums.com"

    @Try3 and @Edwin -

    Good work!

    I believe that I have the necessary knowledge now to take care of my issue, thanks so much.
    It would be great if someone designed a nifty little program to enable a quick drag & drop to the Taskbar.

    If anyone has any other ideas, please post them here.

    Cheers!
