    Question about hovering text.

Is there a way to turn off the hovering text that appears when you leave your mouse cursor inactive over a file or folder? I have provided a screenshot of what I want to turn off if possible. The red arrow points to what I want to turn off.

I know this is a helpful feature, but I hate when you want to read something above or below that hovering text and you can't because the text box is not transparent; and even if it were transparent, I still think one would have heck of a time reading through it - so I want to disable it if possible.

The balloon appears only when your mouse is over the file.
So just move your mouse elsewhere!

I know that's the easy way right! I was just wondering if there is a registry hack to disable it is all I was asking basically.

You could try raising the value of MouseHoverTime at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse to a value so high it seems to disable it...

    the default value is 400

Interesting. Have you tried it yourself to see if it works?

Actually, try disabling pop-up descriptions in File Explorer Options first...

Thank you Edwin! The second option worked! I was messing with the hover time values with little to no change - so I tried your second suggestion and it worked flawlessly.

Thank you for finding the easier way to do it!

Something was going on with the quote feature, I had to fix my post #7 to reflect what you said/typed accurately.

    Thank you again!

Had to fix it again because post #9 looks like I gave myself a thumbs up when indeed I was quoting you.
