    File explorer without descriptions

Hello guys, first of all please forgive my broken English.
And now I'll try to describe my issue. Two days ago switching on my pc I've found a problem..... when I try to read my hard drives contents I can't. All icons are aligned in a wrong way. I can only use my browser... I tried to restore the system without any results. Have you any advice to give me?

When File Explorer [or older Windows Explorer] is open there should be a View tab in the Toolbar. Click it and in the middle you'll see icons to change the View of how Folders and files in them can be listed.

Thanks for you quick answer.... but you did not hit the target..... I don't know how to post an image here (I 'm writing from my Android tablet and, probably, it doesn' t visualize correctly the site). Would you tell how to add an image? Thanks.

Under FAQ (in the 2nd line of menu options at the top)
    Reading and Posting Messages.

    1. To insert an image (and browse to one) click the icon above your post to the left of the video icon. When you move your mouse over it it says 'Insert Image'.

    2. Failing that (and not preferred!) you can attach files.
    (Go Advanced, paper clip icon).

It's not just the file names that are missing. All the text is missing - everything has gone: the title bar, the names of the ribbon tabs and the icons on the Home ribbon at the top - all of them are missing. This suggests that a system font is missing. On possible cause for this is having used something like Winaero Tweaker to change the system font.

    This is your Explorer ribbon...

...and this is how it should look with all the words showing.

Yes, changing the Default System Font can definitely cause problems. Same applies to programs using Fonts that are available but have not actually been installing into the Fonts Folder, only available to the program until it is closed or the computer rebooted.

Do you remember what happened or what you did before this?
Two days ago switching on my pc
Someone may have an idea as to how to fix this more easily- not something I've heard of before.

    Failing that, hopefully this would:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade | Windows 10 Tutorials
This procedure keeps all your programs and data and most settings.

But first check your Windows build (windows key + R, winver). Please be aware of the following, and make the appropriate choice:

If 1803, follow the above. If 1709, post back as you would need to get a 1709 iso to keep that build. Otherwise following that you will upgrade to 1803, which is problematic for some. However if you were to upgrade from 1709 to 1803, that should resolve this too.

Sure it'll be the same, changing the Default System Fonts is permanent until changed back/restored. In some cases it may require extreme measures to get it corrected, such as what has been mentioned.
