I did the graphics card update as a way of ruling that out, although it seems to have crapped out on the install.

I routinely do HP support assistance (diagnostics) on CPU, HDD, OS , GPU both from Windows and BIOS level. All test come out clean??. I'll run memtest86+ tonite.

I don't know how to interpret the log file (ie. EA 0x124) . Is there a guide or tut on it?

There were no dump files yet for WHEA 0x124.
They appeared in the Windows logs.
Some of these may have been deleted using Ccleaner.

The HP tools are good but the tools that will be used will place the hardware under stress to see if there are problems with the hardware.

There are many many WHEA 0x124 BSOD in the Ten Forums threads. You can use the search to find them.

Please post when the above software has been uninstalled.
After the software has been uninstalled a crash dump will be performed to see if dump files can be generated.

When Kaspersky is uninstalled make sure that Windows defender is turned on.

    Hi,

I tried to run the Memtest86+ USB last nite but PC would not boot thru USB. It did the nite before using Memtest86 from Passmark. Same USB stick

I made sure several times, that BIOS boot order had USB first.
I made a bootable USB stick using the Memtest86+ app. It formatted it to Fat32. I tried same using NTFS...no good

I tied 3 different USB sticks from 1GB to 16GB in size, all were USB 2.0???

I'm getting to the point, given all of your analysis that I'm experiencing major hardware failures, that it's time to bite the bullet and send the PC back to HP for analysis and repair.

My hesitation is that they will not do the type of thorough debugging that we've just begun, unless they can put it on their test rigs and find the hardware faults. But since it's still under warranty...I have nothing to loose other than downtime or possibly getting PC back from them with them saying "works for us" !!

    Thoughts?

For memtest86+ version 5.01 there are steps in post #13 for the different computer environments.

There were no dump files yet collected and that would be the next troubleshooting step.

Getting a RMA is the easiest method.

HP can then test the hardware and replace parts as needed.

    Hi zBook,

Talked to HP Support. They are sending me a box to ship it back to their repair shop. Hope they do a thorough job of test and debug.

I appreciate all of your help...

Do be aware that OEMs frequently wipe the drive in their testing process, save your data, anything that exists nowhere else.

If you reported to HP to fix any WHEA problems they should be able to check the event viewer to see that they are fixed (uncorrected and corrected).

    You are welcome.

Before you pack it up > download and install whocrashed: http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed > in the left upper corner above analyze click on tools > crash dump test > type: ACCEPT > perform the crash dump test

Post the whocrashed analyze results and run the beta log collector > post each into the thread.

    UPDATE...06/22/18

    Hi Guys,

Just got my HP Envy 750 back from HP service. pretty quick turn-around.

I had sent a list of all my failure symptoms, plus all of the debugging data and suggestions that was provided through you and this forum, especially the info for BlkSOD that pointed to PCIExpress on MB.

HP said they replicated the BMOD and traced issue to a bad graphic card (Radeon RX550). They replaced the card with new one.

Only had the machine back for a few days, but so far...it is stable and working well.

Still wonder why a dying graphic card would cause the keyboard to null out...anyway.

Thanks for all your help on this issue.

That's great that its working and you got it back quickly and with a new graphics card.
    You are very welcome.
Over the next few weeks there should be lots of entries in the computer log files.
Sometime in July you can run the beta log collector and post a zip into the thread.
The logs can then be checked for any unexpected restarts, corrected or uncorrected WHEA, graphic problems, etc.
