#21
Ah.....looks like i made a big mistake.
All i had done was un-tick Fast Start and the boxes so that the Hibernate and Sleep options were not showing in the Shut-down settings. OOPS!
I still have all the hidden files pagefil.sys, swapfil.sys, and hiberfil.sys.
That makes my post #19 complete nonsense - I have added a note to it to that effect, but if a Mod wants to delete or otherwise edit it, please go ahead.
Very Sorry all
it is useful when using mechanical HDD, it really speed up the power on procedure especially on notebooks
having an SSD it is better to turn it off as the startup speed is not really improved and it prevents to write many mb on the SSD when shutting down the system
That, in essence, is the main reason to turn off when using an SSD. Any advantage is negligible, at best. Personally (a.k.a. IMO), I would turn it off using a spinner, too. With the minor exception of a turtle speed 5400rpm. I would rather spend the few extra seconds on startup than bring yesterdays potential trash with me. Again, just IMO.
I have been testing Fast Startup on a very ancient PATA HDD and I haven't noticed any relevant improvement.
