    Show Windows version

I can't remember what the key combo short-cut is to bring up the windows version....not the system info. It's a little tiny window that opens showing the version and build. For the life of me I can't remember. A little help please.

Try Ctrl-Alt-Esc to bring up Task Manager, click File → Run, then type winver into the run box.
Don't know of a single hotkey sequence that brings up winver on its own. You could use AutoHotKey to set one up, though...

Found it in a later post from @dalchina : Winkey+R opens Run box, type winver. Done!

TBH, I find the easiest way to run Winver (or anything else) is just to click Start and type it's name.

The Windows key + R will bring up a Run box, type winver. Can even make a new Shortcut on the Desktop that leads to C:\Windows\System32\winver.exe.

    Hiya,

I'm that rare lifelong Mac user that recently flipped to Windows. Call it the Tim Cook Effect and know there's more of us heading this way and to Android. Apple is dead.

What I would like to share, however, is the occasional Mac perspective. I do this all over the web and encourage Windows users to basically not put up with MS bullshinola just because you have for years and are so used to it you don't see it as such. Never apologize for bad design.

I'm observing this conversation. From a former Mac users perspective it's a ridiculous discussion. Look at all the nonsense you have to go through just to get a frickin' build number?!? I don't recall at this point how it's handled on macOS but I do know one thing: this info wouldn't live in a separate non-intuitive place.

In Windows 10 the build number should either be visible in THIS PC/PROPERTIES or a way to reveal it should rest right under your Windows version. In fact it's annoying that they hide this information in properties in the first place. Maybe instead of sticking all that crepe bloatware they do in the Start Menu there could be a THIS PC icon that brings you DIRECTLY to this info. Or a system tray option.

Sorry to rant but I want the Windows stuff like this to be fixed. If you agree piss and moan in the appropriate places.

Not much in it - on Mac the OS version is Apple > About this Mac. On Windows it is Settings > System > About

There are other (more convoluted) ways of course - see Find Windows 10 Build Number | Windows 10 Tutorials

Well you could make a shortcut if you needed to check it on a regular basis but this is one of the few things in settings that is pretty easy to find I think.

Any part of Settings that has an icon (like the About that you circled in your screenshot) can be pinned to Start for quick access. Just right-click on it.

For the harder to reach parts of Settings (like those reached by a blue links on a Settings page) you can create a shortcut, either in your All apps list (from where you can pin it to Start) or on the Desktop.
