Unfortunately TaskView is not shown on my Taskbar, and I do not know how to get it back.
Right-click on the taskbar and tick 'Show Task View button'.

Sorry, I should have said that I had tried that but it did not work. I suppose that there is a mess-up in my Windows. If you have any thoughts on what to look for I would be v glad to know it.

Thank you for your interest in my problem.

    Kind regards, Martin Nowers

The first thing to do is test if this is a 'mess up' with your Windows in general, or just for this user account. If you have another user account on this PC sign in to that and see if it is the same. If you don't have another user, create a new local user as a test account.

If other accounts look OK then your user profile may be corrupt. It can be near-impossible to fix a bad user profile, it's often easier and quicker to create a new account and use that instead. Remember that you must have at least one administrator account on the PC in order to be able to maintain it. Make sure your new account is set as an administrator before deleting the old one.

Add Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10
Change Account Type in Windows 10

For Windows-wide problems where you can't pinpoint the cause, the general repair steps to take are (in this order):

    1. SFC /Scannow Run SFC Command in Windows 10
    2. DISM restorehealth Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image
If errors are found, repeat 1 & 2, restarting between each until no errors are reported.

If errors can't be fixed with sfc/dism after three or four attempts, then try an in-place repair upgrade. This lets you keep all installed apps, your user files, and most settings, but reinstalls Windows.
