Blue lines appearing on any black background

Hi, my friend recently bought a new gaming laptop asus strix. He has had it for no more than 10 hours and has got a problem. Ive tried fixing it but cant find a fix anywhere.

He went to open up battlegrounds then his screen showed up blue horizontal lines across the screen. It also came up with dx11 is required to run when opening up battlegrounds althought the game was working fine before. When we open up the internet or icons on the computer they work perfectly fine and the lines only appear on a black background. Disrupting anything that is on the black image. When we restart the computer it will not load back up unless you power it off completely. It also says starting up disk repair.

I used print screen to see if there was damage to the screen but the lines show up on the screenshot so im guessing it has something to do with the graphics card or video card? We have updated both but nothing has worked.

It would be great help if someone could help us out. Thank you!

Hiand welcome to 10F. Since those lines appear in screenshots, problem is most probably in graphic interface so I'd suggest returning laptop for RMA or refund. There may be other problems with it too.

I had similar problems in a desktop PC and the problem was a faulty GPU which had to be replaced - a simple fix for a desktop PC but not a laptop.

I noticed the lines in the BIOS screen which was clue it was a hardware fault rather than video driver problem

Rule of thumb is if lines are visible in a screenshot, it's GPU's fault, if not visible than it's display or a connection to it.

If this is a brand new computer, and they have had it for less then 30 days, take it back to the place of purchase and get another one under warranty.
If it is more then 30 days but less then one year, you can send it back to Asus for free warranty repair.
A Video Card and a Graphics card are the same thing just a different name. When you Updated the Graphics, do you mean you downloaded the latest driver?
The Video chip on a laptop is part of the motherboard, you cannot change out the graphics card without changing the motherboard. So, the motherboard needs replacing.
