    Fingers crossed for 1803

1803 threatened to pounce upon me a couple of weeks ago. I instantly "metered" away the threat.

But today, on a whim I let it fly ... and it installed. Well, slap me silly ...

It threw a few new shortcuts on the desktop and on the quick launch bar.
    No sweat. Just delete.

But more troubling: It seemed to ruin the latency on my piano software by messing with the external audio interface (a Presonus Audiobox).
It seems that the "Presonus Universal Control" software had its buffer setting reset to "relaxed".
I changed it back to "minimum" and it's working again.

Meanwhile the default/desktop speakers didn't work.
The 1803 installation changed the default sound.
Changing it back to the built-in Realtek audio fixed that.

Sandboxie was broken. I had to install a new version.
Fortunately it was easy to find others online who had the same problem in 1803, and fixed it with the new version of Sandboxie.

And AVG antivirus was broken. It wouldn't run. Wouldn't scan. Wouldn't even show a window on screen.
    So I rebooted. Still broken.
I installed a new version. Still broken.
I rebooted yet again ... and AVG is finally working again.

So ... they call this an upgrade? The only new things here are ... the damages it has done.
Exactly how is that an upgrade?
    Sux.

    I updated 2 laptops and 1 desktop.
the only problem was that it uninstalled the win 7 games, no problem, I reinstalled them , and it removed an unsigned driver.
also no problem. every thing works just fine

Now that you mentioned it ... Win 7 games are gone here too. Had to reinstall.
So I say again ... Exactly how is this an upgrade ?

Probably stuff you will never use: What's new in Windows 10, version 1803 | Microsoft Docs
The Microsoft plan is to do a major Update every 6 months, expect another one in September.

    I think you're a little bit pessimist...
Make your day looking at below "upgrade" which is the only I found:

    And remember:
MS always gives you the chance to become a good debugger for its beta releases, "as a service".

Neverending story... Same as my experience acquired by "upgrade" from 1511 to 1709:
major windows updates always screw finely tuned system Solved - Windows 10 Forums
Is the a good thing to get? - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

The only usable edition of Windows 10 is LTSB - one build is supported for 10 years without upgrade. But it is not intended for regular user - it requires KMS activation and it cannot be bought individually. Although all my systems are legit and some of them paid, I seriously consider my next "upgrade" will be to LTSB because "upgrades" which always ruin my systems are absolutely unacceptable.

But you got one thing slightly wrong:
MS always gives you the chance to become a good debugger for its beta releases, "as a service".
I would instead say that MS used to give you a chance to become a debugger. (Updates were not forced.)
But MS now forces you to become a debugger. (Updates are forced.)

From your description I can only presume that LTSB stands for Leave This Stuff Be !

You may deny whatever you want, thus again MS gives you the chance to become a PC guru...
    Think positive

A couple of observations: One is that Win10 is being characterized asWindows as a Service, as mentioned will be continually Upgraded and updated. Historically a program having a larger number assigned to it was an Upgrade, more complete than an update [equate update to the Service Packs of previous versions of Windows]. Another thing is that there are no 2 computers in use that are exactly alike, even buying 2 at the same place same time are identical until turned on and something done, program installed, settings different from each other. All these add up to the fact there will be issues seen and reporting them helps with the next Upgrade or update, even on your friends, neighbors, girlfriends, co-workers computer/s.
