    Missing files after 1803 update

    Hello!
My pc has updated to 1803, I used to use Homegroup to stream my videos etc to my Sharp tv.
I have gone through the new networking procedures, now when I try to access the videos from my tv, I see the directories, but not the files.
Does anyone know how the files etc. should be set-up?
I have tried casting from Media Player I get picture but no sound, also the picture is not 16:9 its more like 4:3 and distorted.
    Any ideas?

Homegroup was discontinued because it kept failing on too many computers. The NEW Networking procedure is the OLD networking procedure that has worked since the beginning of computer networking.
When you do a major Update to Windows, it creates of folder C:\Windows.old Browse to this directory to your [UserName] under the Users folder. Copy any files you are missing and paste them into your current [UserName] folder in the C:\Users\UserName] folder.
You may also need to reinstall your Video driver from your computer/motherboard manufacturer or video graphics card manufacturer to get 16.9 picture again.

The files should be in a folder that is shared with "Everyone", and in the "network and sharing centre" > "advanced sharing settings" turn on network discovery and automatic setup, turn on file & printer sharing, in both private and public areas, and under "all networks", turn on sharing, use 128 bit encryption and turn off password protected sharing.
Reboot and the folder and files should show up.

@enfield250, there are two ways to stream video to a smart TV. Neither of them rely on Homegroup or Workgroup, the TV just needs to be a device on your network with an IP address assigned to it by your router (in much the same way as you'd use a network printer). One is to use the TV's controls to browse and request the media from the PC, the other is to push the media to the TV from the PC.

For the first, you have to set the PC up to be a Media Server, then you can browse the available media using your TV's controls and pick which you want to be streamed from the PC. This was how I used to do it in Windows 7.

The other way is simpler and the one I now use. In File Explorer, just right-click on a video and select 'Cast to Device'. Your TV should be listed as an available device. There's no media server, sharing or file permissions to set up first, you can just cast any media file you choose to the TV.

If the PC doesn't see the TV as an available device, make sure it is connecting to your network and that in the TV's settings it is set to allow DLNA remote control. If you still can't see the TV, you may need to enable the SMB1 Client in 'Turn Windows features on or off' on the PC.

In fact, it may be that the old way you used to do it also requires SMB1. It's a deprecated feature and the upgrade to 1803 may well have turned it off. Try turning it on and see if you can stream the way you did before the upgrade. You may also need to turn on the SMB1 Server to allow your TV to access the files on the PC.
