    Application Colour Inversion

After last MS update all applications are colour Inverted. However the Desktop isn/t inverted.
Have tried to restore to earlier date but it fails.
Messing around with Magnifier settings doesn't work.
Setttng every thing as High Contrast does change colurs but everthing is, as you would expect in high contrast and not a solution.

    Any ideas?

    Welcome to TenForums @Tap1950

You haven't filled in your system specs, so we don't know what video card/drivers you use, but it sounds like a driver problem.

A screenshot of your problem would help, use WinKey + PrtSc to make one (it saves it to your Pictures\Screenshots folder). But if it is a driver problem (as I suspect) then a screenshot would show the colours correctly.

    No guarantees...….
Suggest to check your High Contrast setting. See if it is turned On.
Settings > Personalisation > right side, High Contrast Settings > under Use High Contrast, is it turned on ?

Your screenshot shows the typical effects of a High Contrast setting being turned on. The boxes around each of the items in the taskbar's notification area (clock, etc.) should normally only be seen in High Contrast. This should also change the desktop though. It doesn't appear to have done so, which is the puzzle here.

Try another user account, does that behave the same way? If necessary, create a new local user account to test this.

What is the keyboard icon, top centre of the desktop? That's not any standard part of Windows 10 that I have seen. Do you have any 3rd-party of OEM apps that may be influencing the look of the desktop?

    @CountMike - no themes involved

@bree - high contrast definitely off

    - attached screenshot of new user account

    - the keyboard icon is related to Teamviewer. I'm trying to help a friend so am using Teamviewer get answers to your queries asap, otherwise would need to wait until I visit him again sometime next week.

OK, Teamviewer shouldn't be a problem, indeed it isn't for the new user screenshot.

Your first screenshot had all the hallmarks of a High Contrast theme being applied ONLY to the apps. That should not be possible (yet) but has been suggested as a possible option for the future: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0-4977706ec9bb

You're not on an Insider version are you? If you are on the standard release of 1803, I'd try applying each High Contrast theme in turn, restarting after application, then remove the High Contrast theme. That may (eventually) reset all the theme settings back to 'standard' for this account. It is obviously working properly for the other account.

That is often the only practical solution if a user's profile has been corrupted, it's certainly the most straightforward one (if a little time consuming).

@Tap1950, if the old account was an administrator, make sure you have at least one other administrator account before you delete the original one. Personally I have two administrator accounts on all my PCs, one for general use and a second just for maintenance purposes.
