Windows 10 Upgrade was bad ! Clean install was great!

I know that microsoft had no choice. Not every person out there can do a clean install. Too complicated setting up all.
But from my experience the upgrade from 8.1 was a disaster. Many errors in event viewer, Slow system and slow boot time, failed windows updates ...etc

Tonight I did a clean install after my update and all went smooth. Windows was activated when I got to desktop and surprisingly windows update did it's job correctly this time. No failed updates at all. The system is now fast and I find windows 10 to be a great upgrade to 8.1

I was thinking that it would be too early to go for a clean install as maybe I should wait for all hardware vendors to get their drivers ready. But to my surprise all drivers were already installed with windows.

So if you have a nice new computer my advice would be to do a clean install and not stick with the upgrade!

A clean install is always going to be better than an upgrade. If you haven't already be sure to check your PC/motherboard manufacturer's website and download any upgraded drivers (e.g. chipset driver).

Yes, a clean install will be great I assume. I am going to do that hereafter.

When changing to a new version I usually do a clean install on a formatted drive.
Way, way back, Windows NT-time, I learned a so-called 'upgrade' usually ends up with errors and software not working properly.
Except for buying off the shelf, MS did not offer any other option but do an upgrade.
The Windows 10-upgrade is working now and activated, but I guess, same as in the old days, it is much better to do a clean install as the eventlog simply shows too many errors.

Rightfully so.. However, I feel that Microsoft should have given users a chance to do a clean install rightaway, based on the license code users have.
I, myself, have a few licenses (2x 7, 8.0 and 8.1). The 8/8.1 licenses are used to run windows 8 vm's. but both my pc's have 7.
How am I to proceed to get the 8.0 and 8.1 keys valid for Windows 10.

a) make an image of Windows 10 after a clean install
b) install windows 8.0 (not as a vm), do an upgrade so the key is valid for W10
c) install windows 8.1 same as b.
d) restore the Windows 10 image

They should have allowed to install Windows 10 whilst using the 7/8/8.1 key, simple, without mandatory upgrade.

In the end, it is all the same (keys are valid for 10), but Microsoft is forcing users to do a lot work first..

Your defense of MS in this post and others is tiresome. The OP's point is that it is more effective to do a clean install rather than an upgrade for a smoother transition.

MS is providing free upgrade for 1 year to promote their product. It is not a "patch" with "limited rights."
