    Cannot get to login screen.

    Hi,

My pc refuses to show the login screen. All I see is the mouse cursor and a black screen. I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse which are working so I know windows is loaded. Also win+p brings up the project a screen thing and win+u brings up narrator. Any ideas on how to fix.

Ive ran chkdsk and sfc /scannow /offbootdir=D:\ /offwindir=D:\windows. SFC /SCANNOW from recovery and it found no problems.

Im running the 1803 build dual booting with Windows 7.

In the Recovery Environment (RE) the Windows you boot from may change drive letters.
Do you have a Windows Install DVD or USB? You will need it to repair Windows.

Ok, boot the Windows installer, Choose your Language. Press Shift+F10 to go directly to the Command PromptAt command prompt (x: sources) type this exactly as written:bcdedit |find “osdevice” (Must inc and the |), the | before Find is the Upper case \ key) press enter. This will tell you what drive letter the OS is on. It may not be on the C: drive.
Use the returned drive letter for the OS.
At the X:\Sources prompt type the drive letter of the OS (ie) D: and press enter (ie) D:\> at this prompt type the following bold commands pressing enter after each, then try to boot normally.
    bootrec /FixMBR
    bootrec /FixBoot
    bootrec /ScanOS
    bootrec /RebuildBCD
reboot and try to boot normally

It sounded like you couldn't login at all.
Maybe the lock screen needs to be reset?
