This has been going on for months. I need to run sfc /scannow everyday before my differential backup runs.
I have run DISM and SFC until I can do them in my sleep.

What I have noted is that it seems to corrupts whenever I do a reboot. I am afraid to do a reboot these days.
I have tested all components, cpu, memory, disks and all other hardware, everything is fine.
If the reboot takes forever I know I am in trouble. Usually my reboot is 50 seconds. If it is corrupted and I am able to get to the Desktop, things like the Search Window and the Windows Icon do not work. Nor if I right click on the CMD icon in order to run in Administrative mode, none of these work. And/Or explorer.exe is funky.
Some times it fails to load Windows at all and I am at the Blue Screen of trying to repair Windows.

I just recovered my PC from a backup that was 2 weeks old. A full backup and all differential backups failed to recovery. I was shocked that I had to go back nearly 2 weeks to get the image where sfc passed,

Today - I have 4 MircoSoft updates to run for Win 10.
Last night - I did a full image backup
SFC /scannow passed this morning.
I did a complete backup of C:\Windows (I hope I can just restore this if I get hammered again)
Well I am off to do an update! Wish me luck! If I don't respond I am rebuilding again.

If anyone has to recover their machine as often as I or has some idea as to why this is constantly occurring,
Please help me. What exactly is corrupt? Can I just backup those ahead of time?

Hi, how have you tested your disk, and what type of disk (technology) do you have?

Do you get any error messages when using Macrium R? E.g. crc errors when making a backup?

As I said every piece of hardware checks out ok.
There are no errors in Macrium
The system has 2 disks.
Model Western Digital HDD WD5000LPLX 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache 7200RPM 2.5inch
Model SanDisk SSD U110 16GB

Hi, again, specifically, exactly how - with which program or method- have you tested your disk? Please state specifically. There is a reason for asking.

Please confirm Windows is installed on your SSD. (I assume it is).

You say

- do you mean
a. the image restoration process failed (but you say Macrium R never produced any error messages)
or
b. your PC failed to boot or operate correctly after a successful image restoration.

You say

but you also say Macrium R does not produce any error messages.
- so in what manner does creating the differential image fail - or how do you know it has failed?

What is your Windows build?
(Windows key + R, winver)

How long is it between reboots when you typically experience problems rebooting?
Have you tried running with a clean boot (startups disabled) to try to eliminate corruption arising from other programs running- although I'd think this a low probability.

- the corruption might be due to- e.g.
- power fluctuations
- incipient hardware failure (if this is marginal or over time, this might not be detected by simple tests, hence my questions about testing method and time between restarts).
- the OS being overwritten

You could try - as an experiment- after a successful restart, and SFC /SCANNOW passing. then running that e.g. hourly to see how long it is before a failure- if any- is detected.
