    1803 Desktop Refresh Problem

I installed 1803 from an ISO yesterday performing an upgrade from 1709 ?... and now I notice that the desktop icons and the taskbar refresh themselves frequently I read one user said every 2 mins that sounds about right... to me it seems as if Explorer is refreshing it's self does anyone know of a cure for this please ? it's not a major problem just damn annoying.

The laptop is an MSI Apache Pro incidentally I have not noticed the same problem with the Acer Aspire or the Asus X44 I upgraded from the same ISO and Windows version, all drivers are updated to current versions that had no previous problems.

This sounds like Explorer.exe is crashing.
Sometimes whenever Explorer crashes, it reloads itself and it looks like everything (including the TaskBar) "refreshes".

    Look at the Event Viewer
(In Event Viewer, I believe that it is logged under Windows Logs > Application)
Click there, then press CTRL + F
    Type: explorer
    in that box, and search.
At first, try finding a result, look at the time stamp, and then press find again (the search result is the last one you see in the visible list). See the difference in the time stamps. Keep pressing the 'Find Next' button. Let's see if it really is explorer. And if it keeps crashing, then the same "issue" is causing it to crash. Maybe the reported log would all say the same exact thing in all the search results. Give that a try, let's see what it says.

Nothing of any interest in there just information flags no errors...
There is another issue I have just noticed the best way I can describe it is you know when you open a very large file in say notepad and whilst it is still loading and you try to scroll down the scrolling is jerky and the text flickers ? well this is happening with even small office type documents now, though scrolling in the browser and other documents is ok...

I ran sfc/ scannow and it reports nothing is corrupted, windows downloaded an update for 1803 and installed successfully but it did not fix any of the problems.

Well I decided to re-install 1803 in the hope it might possibly fix itself... the result is I started to get a notification saying the Intel graphics driver had crashed and the basic windows one was being used instead I kept getting that notification every time I logged on which it never told me about before, in addition to that the system would keep switching out from the Intel to the Nivida card I know that becasue the light on the power button changes colour depending on which card is being used...

I know the probable solution is to update the Intel driver at least but there are still other issues I have discovered so to hell with the 1803 abortion I re-instated a Macrium image I made prior to installing 1803 then used the wuhide tool to block 1803 from downloading how long that will last remains to be seen...

So in theory the problem is solved but technically it is not, strange though there is no mention of 1803 causing any problems on the MSI official forum then again it is a waste of time asking them anything I think those who are having this problem figured that out already.

If you decide to download 1803, go to the MSI support/download drivers site and type in your laptops model# and download the Intel and nVida drivers and install them.

Already got them mate they haven't been updated in about 4 years on there ! which is no surprise...
The Intel site has a new one dated around last month and Nvidia has one for this laptop also didn't look to see how old it was though, so that would be the way forward I guess when I have to give in eventually and install 1803.
