    Sihost.exe and explorer.exe : Unknown Hard Error

Hi, I’ve recently installed the new update of Windows 10 and two errors occured : sihost.exe : Unknown Hard Error, and Explorer.exe : Unknown Hard Error

I’ve tried to perform a cleanboot, didn’t find any corrupted file. Then I performed a chkdsk /f /r via the administrator command prompt, nothing changed. I also tried to do a sfc /scannow but for some reason, I couldn’t ..

I even tried to delete the last update, you may guess that it didn’t work.
I was thinking about downloading a software that could scan + delete the corrupted file(s) but since I can’t get access to Internet anymore, I can’t download anything...

Does someone have a solution ?
    Thanks in advance :)

Same issue here.... tried all of the solutions that I found online and none worked. Once you click 'OK' in the Unknown Hard Error dialog, the screen goes black.

You can however load task manager, and run CMD as Admin.

From there I tried to run chkdsk /f /r but Windows refused, reporting that the volume was in use by another process. It did give me the option to run chkdsk the next time Windows starts, which I did.

When I rebooted, Windows restored the previous version of. Windows, then ran chkdsk, then booted normally.

Thanks so much Microsoft... I needed a break from my normal routine.....NOT!

Same issue here, and since I have many clients via my business, I am seeing this a lot lately on other PCs as well.
Any ideas? Thankfully a good backup is key if a rebuild is needed. Thoughts? GB

Same Issue - Struggled with various supposed 'solutions' posted in various web resources. non worked. Only thing that worked is Win + R (to get to msconfig), but Win+X did not work; so was not possible to get to Command Prompt (admin). One can make widows recovery panel appear at the boot time - hold shift key down when pressing restart. Crazy thing is that non of the recovery options worked (restore point is missing, cannot reboot using last config, etc; src./scannow for dism health check did not work) However in this mode: Check disk /F /R worked.

I downloaded (with the help of MS Support centre) the windows 10 reinstallation data into a USB stick (this can be done if you access to working Windows PC/laptop). However, very reluctant to try reinstallation, because I will have to, subsequently, reinstall a lot of my software. I am also frightened that this reinstallation process may introduce further stuffs, like losing the ability to access my user data (why, damaged windows installations seems to have lost everything - like registry data). So, I am waiting for Gods at Microsoft to publish a roll back method for their latest Windows update.

One further thing: Using Win+R you can access Browse (File manager). I saw in the C: list, windows and just below that windows.old. Would anyone know weather we can manually do something to restore previous Window 10 using this windows.old directory?
