    Thanks to all the input here I just did a Clean Install. I spent lot's of time reading threads and everyone said the same thing "nothing works" "Clean Install" is the only way to go. And considering how fast a Clean Install of Windows 10 is, that is the way to go. So thanks to all you guys for doing all the legwork. If there is nothing else good about Windows 10, it's that it Clean Installs very fast.Thanks FunkMaster

    Hey Funkmaster and others, I have exactly the same problem and after spending 2 hours searching and trying things, I cannot resolve it. Quick question: When you do a Clean Install, do you have to reinstall Microsoft Office, Firefox and other applications / browsers or are those left in tact? What about your data? Please let me know, as right now we are dead in the water on one of our two laptops... Thanks in advance, Jim

    spent all day yesterday trying to find a solution to the problem and I havent, tried every possible solution without success, I am now looking for a way to save my data, if any, before doing a clean installation or use the Lenovo in built app to reinstall the factory settings. Has anyone ever used the Novo button for a push button reset? Thanks for all your help

    Yes, you will need to reinstall everything, and, there may be some Drivers that need installing but 10 is pretty good at getting them all usually.

    Your data is a different thing. Either you go out and buy an external drive to put your current drive into connected to another computer, or, you can download some kind of recovery tool from another computer and boot from it on your damaged computer, and then save all your files to a usb in this recovery tool. You could have a local shop do this too if you want.

    Also, run a tool like Produkey to get product keys if needed. You shouldn't need the one for Windows 10, but this tool does support some versions of Office etc.

    I am familiar with Linux, so I use that. You would download the iso to a folder and then create a bootable DVD or USB. Then boot from it and copy all your files to a usb, dvd etc. You can also get Chrome or Firefox Bookmarks if you don't have them backed up already.
    HERE is a good linux 64bit OS that could be used.

    No, but used many others. You should get the model number of your pc and look at the manual, then you will at least know what to expect, if you need help you should start another thread.

    However, I would not do it that way, it may work but it takes to long for me to bother with. And, it may cause you the same problem again. Coming from the original environment may cause the same issue because of a driver, or something else I cannot really be sure of. What I did was a "Clean Install". This -from what I understand- will bring in all the officially tested MS Drivers with the Clean Install, and therefore should work.

    You and CoolJD should look on the list of supported equipment for your particular OEM computer. That may tell you if there are some major issues, or it may not, but it may help lol. My pc was on the tested list for 1803, but it also said that there was no wifi driver for it. I could not find any good intel on this so took a chance and installed anyway, and my wifi works!

    Start new threads so that mine don't get to clogged with others info, and make sure to post the Model of your pc, preferably in the first post, and or, in your Profile.

    Moving Forward


    Hi, Just so everyone knows, this problem was unresolveable. I ended up installing Windows 10 again by creating a bootable USB. It takes quite a while to complete. Microsoft Edge comes with it, but nothing else so all other Apps and data need to be re-installed... Thnx Microsfoft!!!... Argh...
