Windows 10 updated but does not load any more

Hi. I have a Dell Laptop 7000 series. I bought it in April 2014 with Windows 8.1 on it. Soon I got a message that I can upgrade it for free to windows 10, which I did!
This morning I got a message that windows need to be updated and it takes a while. I clicked ok. It kept updating until iy became almost 80% complete. Then all of sudden I got a blue screen which says: Choose your keyboard, I did choose US keyboard. Next thing was another blue screen giving me 6 options:
    1) Continue: Exit and Continue to Windows Roll back
    2) Use a device: USB drive, Network connection, or windows recovery dvd
    3) use another operating system : continue with another installed version of winmdows
    4) troubleshoot : reset your pc or see advanced options
    5) turn-off your pc
I do not know what is Windows Roll Back.
I have chosen options 1 and 3: on option 3 I went to option windows 10 grade 5!!!! but like option 1 i keep getting same issue: black background and an error message: C: windows\System32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disk is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you are connected to network or internet, and then tryagain. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted. click OK.
As soon I click Ok, an empty black desktop shows with only a trash basket icon.
at the bottom corner it shows:
    1) audio is disconnected ( which by trouble shooting works).
    2) no internet connection. i even used cable and thought the issue is wireless, but dont work. When I click trouble shooting it gives an error while trouble shooting:
Package ID: Unknown, ;Path: Unknown; error code: 0x80070426; Source: Engine User: My computer name\my name ; Context: Restrickted.

on Option 1 sometimes i see for few minutes this pops up on my screen: >>> Start PXE over IPv4.

When I chose Statrt Up repair, it says it could not repair my pc., press advanced option, which i did but no help.

I appreciate your help. I have no backup of windows nor of my files and I need them. Thanks

Hi, this is why we constantly recommend the routine use of disk imaging (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + large external storage for disk images) so users can recover even from disk failure or non-bootable situations - hopefully without technical help- without the stress and a lot of wasted time.

Your personal files will still be on your disk. You can recover those using either
    a. another PC
    b. booting your PC from a suitable boot disk e.g. Kyhi's - from the top of the Software and Apps section here.

You could try restoring the previous build (available for 10 days).
(I'm assuming that's what Windows Roll back means here).
If you are unfamiliar with a term- search for it. I searched for 'windows roll back': e.g.
    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollback-from-windows-10

In your case you could also do that if necessary by first booting your PC from a Win 10 boot disk (the iso is freely downloadable, instructions to create one available in the Tutorial section), boot your PC from it, click 'Repair your computer', navigate through the Advanced Startup options and follow this: (from the Tutorial section):

As to why it failed: there are logs you can examine, but this is technically tricky and uncertain. There are many possible causes. I would also ask how it is you've had Win 8 for so long and not been prompted to upgrade- officially the free upgrade period has expired, although it still seems to work, I believe.

Have you been disconnected from the internet? Disabled Windows update?
Was your PC fully updated before upgrading?

Sorry, I was unclear. I upgraded windows 8.1 to windows 10 back in 2014, not recently. I had no issues until today. Today It said windows wanted to update, and I said ok! then all hell broke lose! I am not much knowledgeable but have been playing with this for 16 hours, now internet works but some errors like not finding desktop, documents folders! I cannot click on start up to get programs or file explorer from there.
thanks for your response. i try to read it and follow it.
As a separate question: if I login to my microsoft account, where can I go to miscrosoft.com to update my windows 10 again?

Ok, thanks for the clarification; most of what I said still applies, bar the last 2 paras of course, assuming the update was an upgrade to 1803. But if you had already upgraded, there's been an update since then.

To check, if you don't know, see if Windows.old exists. You can also check the version of e.g. explorer.exe (properties, details) to see your build number.

If you've experienced a failure to upgrade, you may be able to restore the previous build as I mentioned.

I suggest your priority is to make a backup of critical files.

Start PXE over IPv4 - related to a failure to access or identify your boot drive.
If you were to search on that you will find more readily.

It may be you have a disk problem. Check your disk- you could do that using Kyhi's boot disk, available from the top of the Software and Apps section here- use e.g. HD Tune, available on the disk.

Using Minitool Partition Wizard on that you can also examine your partition structure and post a screenshot.
