I tried anotehr boot. spinning dots or 20 min and I gave up and powered off. Back in 2015, I had an issue with a Dell XPS 8700 with spinning dots. Pulling the CMOS battery fixed it. I tried it on this machine and after resetting the bios settings, booting, and now again just spinning dots. I am at 10 minute of just spinning dots.

I am at a loss on this on this.

I then restarted and automatic repair came up. It could not repair. I decided to boot into safe mode and it did pretty fast this time. So I am in safe mode and not sure what I should do. I might try a reboot and see if it boots normal.

so I tried waht mrgeek noted previously on just uninstalling the video driver. while in safe mode I did. On next reboot, it got into windows in a minute. I then let windows just auto update a driver. I guess I will leave it for now.

"Another option is to just uninstall all the video drivers, restart and let Windows retrieve one that it's happy with. "
"On next reboot, it got into windows in a minute. I then let windows just auto update a driver."

Glad you're back and up. Unless the desired video driver included some options panel that you can't live without, test that you notice no other difference and your boot issue is solved. Cheers.

    Long boots are back.

    Not sure what to check.

Under device manager I noticed a bunch of entries called "storage volumes generic volume" with exclamation points on them. So I decided to uninstall Acronis True Image.

After I wnt into device manager and under the video driver clicked update driver to see if windows finds a newer one. I let it search and it found the dell version and installed it.

The next boot was faster. I am not sure if it was uninstalling acronis or the video driver update. I need to try another reboot.

Edit: I tired another reboot and was normal. So maybe issue is Acronis and not the video driver.

Edit 2: But Device Manager is still slow to list the devices. So I assume I still have something going on.
