thumbnails broken with April 2018 update

Since getting the new April 2018 update half of my mkv videos won't load thumbnails and the rar files won't load thumbnails. so annoying. I used Ccleaner to delete thumbnail cache but no good. Anyone else with this problem or a solution? I know I was having thumbnail problems with the Fall update now it just got worse.

I don't know why the last few posts was deleted but i was going add using the app in the link I did get the icons back for the Rar files but the video files in the folder still a bunch of MKV's aren't loading thumbnails. And now I noticed more mpg files don't have thumbnails in addition to the ones that quit showing thumbnails since the fall creators update. These are all in the same folder. I also had to re edit the reg entry from 1 to 0 to keep the folders from reloading. To do that, run Regedit.exe and browse the following path:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Thumbnail Cache

Modify Autoruns DWORD and set its value to 0 and reboot your computer.

Perhaps check your file associations and reinstall the default program you are using to open those video files. Also run sfc /scannow from an admin command prompt.

You can try rebuild8ng the cache as follows and see if it helps.

OK i tried both of those. no good. i reinstalled VLC and changed the associations to Movies and TV and back again.

Sorry but I already did that multiple times and even posted that link or similar before the mod deleted a bunch of posts for unknown reasons. I already stated in my first post i used CCleaner to do it as well. I'm out of ideas. non of my mpg files in that folder have thumbnails anymore. they used too before the fall creators update. now none of the mpg files have thumbnails and half of the MKV files in that folder don't have thumbnails. I dont' know what the updates have to do with the thumbnails. But I'm frustrated.
