How to Make Better Contrast to Make Words Easier to Read

When reading news from many media sites, most headlines are okay, but once clicked on and it goes to the subject matter, it's often light gray color against white background, feel like Im going blind trying to read it. Im non-tech, found places to make changes, but no luck, ends up changing the wrong things, or it only affects the desktop and icons.

There may be browser-specific solutions available, if we knew which browser is in use.

Alternatively, one might migrate to a system solution of high-contrast theme that will apply to software that honors user's preference. In my case, high-contrast Windows 10 and Pale Moon browser work well together.

    I'm using Chrome.

At settings/personalization/colors, I've tried some things, but I end up fouling things up all screwy, and often only affects desktop and it's icons. Look thru out different areas even on here, easy to see how some info is almost gray, some is nice dark easy to read solid black.

I'm not looking to change to some other fancy colors, just to have dark solid black in the subject matters, obviously much easier on the eyes.

Chrome ... light gray color against white background
Early this year, I tried a few browsers in portable format, including Chrome. Chrome did not honor my Windows 10 high-contrast requirement. I went in search of extensions, like dark themes, that would change the white background, while viewing with difficulty information in white background. Alas, I was unsuccessful at even such a simple task.

Perhaps you might have better luck.

    So you've tried this combination?

Left ALT + Left Shift + Print Screen

and it's still difficult to read?

You can pick any color combo you want. It works on most sites but the remaining become wonky. You can turn it off on a site and it remembers. All free.

For Chrome, I just searched, there's an extension where you can change the colors for websites.

Check it out. It's the first one in the picture I attached. I just tried it. It has different color schemes. Try it out.

Some confusing info for basic non-tech user.

Lots of sites are like this, not just some news media sites. Look around on here. The title of this thread....the words in each comment....the info under persons name at left edge of screen. Goes from bold black, to gray, to lighter gray (not just 'thicker"). Lots of areas on here are like that....black...gray...light gray....why? Black letters so much easier to read.

Not looking for any fancy color combos, just basic white background with blacker easy to read letters. Seems like a basic simple thing. Or, do things not appear this way to others, only on my screen??
