So GPO is number 1 and WSL is number 2 and so on. I get number 3 and the last 2 in that list. The rest is....Ummm....IDK. LOL.
    Oh! OK, same here!

That's why I started this thread. So we could all benefit by posting questions and answers.

WSL = Windows Scripting Language, could be Windows commands in batch files, PowerShell in scripted form, Windows Scripting Host, and more...
WSL is also used for Windows Subsystem for Linux.

One we seem to live and breath, especially on Insider, is ISO

ISO, the International Organization for Standardization
ISO - International Organization for Standardization

We tend to use it to refer to the actual object, the ISO for installing Windows, the ISO for doing a repair. etc. But ISOs are available for many, like Linux, etc.

It refers to a standard way of assembling the data for such uses.

    EDIT:

If anyone is wondering why it is ISO and not IOS or something else, here is the explanation from their site in the link above:

    It's all in the name

Because 'International Organization for Standardization' would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO.

I've done that, Margrave, and have sometimes been at a complete loss . . . let's take GPO for instance:

Let's say we have a person who has been using computers for awhile, but has never had occasion to delve into the operating system. Let's also say a friend has convinced him to join the Windows Insider Program (WIP). As well, this friend has pointed him to TenForums.com.

OK, he's doing his best to keep up with all the gurus here, but some of this stuff just goes over his head . . . Someone mentions GPO and this poor soul doesn't have a clue to what it means, so he googles it and finds:

    General Post Office
    Government Pharmaceutical Organization
    Government Press Office
    Green Party of Ontario
    Government Publishing Office
    Guam Premier Outlets
    General Purpose Outlet
    Government Pension Offset
    And finally, Group Policy Object

Since he doesn't know what those initials stand for, he can't figure out which one he should pursue. Not one of the above titles makes it obvious that it's related to a computer, let alone to Windows 10.

And that, my friend, is the reasoning for starting this thread.

I find that the trick with all such multi-purpose acronyms is to focus Google's search by including "Windows 10" as a search term.

That might work, but it's easier to have 'em all in one spot right here on TF. :)

The prize for the most confusing multiple acronym goes to PUP/PUA/PUS.

They all mean the same thing (malware) but no one can agree which one to use.
