    Copy and Paste Destroyed

In Windows 10 on both my laptop and desktop the copy and paste functions does not work since the paste function has been has been “greyed out” and is if no use.
This is an important function for most of us and what has Microsoft come up with as an alternative because it is currently a disaster.
Is there a solution and what might it be?
If not a Microsoft idea and then is there a fix, PLEASE.

Working Fine on all systems here in any part of the explorer tree and all applications.

Also I have not seen any reports other than yours here or across the net

Also the full range of Drag & Drop is working fine, as are the old keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+c -copy, Ctrl+x - Cut, and Ctrl+V - Paste

All fine here too, it must be something you have on both machines that are causing it - tbh if copy and paste was messed up there would be thousands of posts about it, so I'm pretty confident it's something local to you.

I wonder if you have MyWinLocker software installed? It was causing the same issue on Windows 7.

Other than that check any recently installed or updated third party software as it could be suspect.

The main reason where I've seen issues with Paste being "Greyed Out" have been situations where a user is attempting to paste into a place where they do not have sufficient rights to access - EG a standard user trying to paste a file into a system area, It is possible in some system areas if you are an administrator and you elevate the file manager, but this is bad practice as the file protections are there for a good reason. It is possible if the copy is not allowed [Rarer than paste prohibition but possible], results in the user attempting to paste an empty clipboard - Which would also show as a "Greyed Out" Paste option.

The major issue that causes this type of problem s older programs, [mostly badly coded games], trying to store data in the Program Files folder or subfolders therein, without proper procedures, for many years now these data files should be either Registry Entries or in folders in the User files tree. There are methods to get around these restrictions but can be quite complex using NTFS Folder permissions

Ran Norton and Malwareby. Norton cam up with nothing . Malwareby came up with two items that solved the problem. Must have been a network issue since both units were fixed. Here are the itemsCopy and Paste.docx
