1803 update - No more file details in Windows Explorer columns for mkv

and e.g. frame height and width are no longer listed for almost all mkv files and some mp4 files. strangely, some few mkv files work, though most dont display properties in windows file explorer since the 1803 update.

apparently this seems to be an issue looking at the threads popping up the last few days.

anyone an idea how to fix this for windows file explorer?

Windows Media Player includes some of the most popular codecs, like MP3, Windows Media Audio, and Windows Media Video, but it doesn't include the codecs required for playing many formats. If something isn’t working with Windows Media Player and File Explorer, you might not have the right codec on your PC.

You can find out which codecs are installed in Windows 10 by opening the Windows Media Player and press Alt key to open the menu bar and click on Help > About Windows Media Player dialog box, select Technical Support Information.

If you want you can install K-Lite Codec Pack.

thanks mate. I know that installing a codec pack fixes this. I was more interested in why and what in 1803 breaks the previous, working state since I really shouldnt have to install a pack.

nevermind though. installing klite is the quick fix.
