Taking complete control (permissions) of my computer

I have tried many different tutorials from the tutorial page here on this site, but much of it is confusing to say the least. I am the only user on this Dell 9010 refurbed computer running windows 10 Pro. Why is my name not shown on the navigation pane under Local Disk (C)/Users? (screen capture) I have a MS account with my name (Joseph Simpson), but it appears nowhere that I can find on this computer. I have very little authority to do much to change things. I've downloaded several reg files from Brinks page, but none work. (Example reg file to remove Network & Homegroup in the navigation pane) of which neither works. It appears to me that I do not have permissions to change much of anything. On the navigation pane under users there are 3 listings-defaultuser0, Owner & Public; default & public both show empty folders. Owner has the 2nd screen.

Looks like the first account created on the computer was a local user account named "Owner". That local account was then changed to log in with a MS account login, if that is the way you are logging in. If you want to have an account set up under your own name, then add a second account using the name you want. Make sure to change that account to an administrator before you delete the account named "Owner".

NavyLCDR; In control panel/user accounts I'm listed with my correct name but it isn't showing up in the navigation pane. Should I not be making such a big deal about it? Every thing seems to work ok!

File explorer shows the folder name, which can be different from your account name. If for example, you first set up a local account, your user folder will get what ever name you use for that. If you then switch to a Microsoft ID, your account name can change but the folder name won't. Or if you change your account name, the user folder name won't change.
My user folder is labelled "kerry" but my account name is "Kerry Waterfield". I logged in with a Microsoft account and my folder got the first 5 digits of my e-mail. It just happens to work out great for me.

My thanks to you 2 guys; I can live with what I have. This was a refurbished desktop that had 10 Pro already loaded. I use it to transcode AVI & mp4 home video into DVD format for family.

I think living with it is a good idea. Changing it, if done incorrectly can really mess things up.

Currently your user profile and user folder is Owner. This user profile has a screenname Joseph, but it in fact uses the afore mentioned user profile.

This is what I would do:

Copy (backup) all personal data from C:\Users\Owner to C:\Users\Public in respective folders (Documents, Videos, Pictures etc.)
Create a new local account naming it Joseph (tutorial)
Change new account (Joseph) type from standard to administrator (tutorial)
Sign out from current user, sign in to new account
Copy the backed up personal data from C:\Users\Public to C:\Users\Joseph in respective folders
Delete user account Owner (tutorial)
Switch new account to a Microsoft account (tutorial)
