    Stop DCOM Error from Posting

    Is there a way to stop error 10016 from posting in the event viewer. There is one generated every time I start chrome and changing permissions does not fix this problem so I would like to stop it from posting. I tried change schannel logging from 1 to 0 but the error still posted. This has been the biggest pain in the butt with windows 10 to me. Any help, thanks.

    Hello, csmdew.

    Have you changed the Enabled value data to 0,
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\Autologger\EventLog-System\{GUID}
    This stopped my DistributedCOM warning.

    Regards,

    Doesn't that stop all items from logging? This is what I have, which is GUID?

    CLSID
    {D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}
    and APPID
    {9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}

    csmdew,

    My apology I wasn't clear enough, find the GUID in Event Viewer highlight your event id 10016 then open Details then System.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\Autologger\EventLog-System\{Exact GUID you see above}
    Change Enabled value data to 0
    This only hide the error and nothing else.

    Regards,

    Thank you, finally found the guid for that bugger and it is now history. I know what causes it,so stopping the logging is not going to be a problem. Every time I opened chrome it would log. Thanks again.

    Regards,
    Hi. In my case, the CLSID and AppId are not shown in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\Autologger\EventLog-System. This is for both of my pc's running Windows 10 (one is version 1809 and the other is version 1803.
    The CLSID is {2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54} and AppID is {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}. Other than changing permissions, are there any other suggestions for hiding these errors from the System Event Log? Thanks, Mark

    Yes. Ignore them. They are harmless. There are many, many thread entries all over this forum stretching back years on this subject. Agree or disagree with MS, but these "entries" are harmless.

    Ed and I both posted on this at length a year ago, citing MS documentation.

    Thanks for your reply. I kind of figured ignoring them is the best answer. The errors are just so annoying getting from 2 to 10 errors in a row. Therefore I'll leave well enough alone. Again, thanks.
