Probably not. The most probable cause is a corrupt user profile. Profiles are notoriously difficult to repair, the easiest/quickest fix is that used by cflusflwfl in Post #7.
Well I don't want to make a new profile and move everything for it only to happen again. There must be a way.
There may be - but I've yet to see anyone report that they have successfully repaired a corrupt user profile.
If you have a restore point from before this problem appeared, restoring that may help.
Do you use anything like the Winaero Tweaker? Problems like this can be down to some incompatible tweak. Opening the tweaker and restoring the windows default conditions can sometimes resolve them.
I forgot I set Windows to back up every night. :P
Do you use its 'make a system image' or include a system image in the backup? If not, then only your user files are backed up, and restoring them won't help.
Only a system image can restore you windows system to that of an earlier time. Backup & Restore (windows 7) is not the most reliable way to make a system image. Most here recommend Macrium Reflect (free) for that.
I tried backing the system up (Last one was from a month ago) and it didn't work.
UPDATE: I just powered up my computer today and the search worked. I guess you have to give Windowss 10 a 2 day break, because that's how it fixed for me.
